Absolutely not. I'm fortunate though, my hair has greyed beautifully. Black at the neck and sideburns and gray/silver everywhere else. I'm often asked if I have it done. I keep it short as well.

I haven't dyed my hair for years and years and years.
Fortunately, at age72 my hair is still dark with some very pretty silver and gold highlights.

Still coloring but thinking of going gray. I keep the color toned down so it doesn't look so "dyed"....I just recently cut it short again.

Yes, I sure do, and have done so for about 4 years, THIS time! Several years ago, I quit dying my hair for a couple of years and found I didn't like what I saw in the mirror.

Now, I'm waiting for all the 'fun' to happen - blondes are supposed to have more fun, ya know - at 62, I guess I missed that boat!

I color mine with Nutrise Garnier boxed hair dye. Mine might go 'brassy' looking if I don't stick with the 'ash' colors.. you might try looking for shades that say 'ash' in the name.

No I never have. I am happy with it just the way it is, I have raven black with silver dispersed around the face, a nice frame. I never had any thoughts of covering the silver.

Nope.... I have 'strips" of silver on top and some on the sides. People ask where I get my highlights done! LOL! The silver glistens in the sun,I really like it. My sister dyes hers,she doesn't like going gray. I hope mine ends up like my mom's pure white and beautiful!

Yes. I spend $128 every seven weeks for a cut and color. I used to go more often but to stretch it out I now pick up the roots along my part and hairline with Root Renew. It loos pretty good and buys me an extra week or two between visits to the salon.

I don't even know what color my hair is. The roots at the part are pretty white but I think there is a fair amount of dark brown in the back. It's tempting to let it grow in but I don't know how I'd do that without cutting it short. I'd look pretty weird half and half.

I haven't colored my hair for almost 20 years. When I quit work, I quit highlighting. My hair falls out faster than a Saint Bernard in Spring and I figured coloring it didn't help.

Surprisingly, it hasn't turned gray except for a few here and there and when it does I'll either resort to coloring or highlighting it again or I'll get a wig. Or maybe I'll like it. Who knows!

I used to dye my hair when I was young, then my DH said why don't you leave it alone (it's naturally a honey blonde).
Now, at 65, my temples are getting grey. My DD said when there's too much grey she'll tell me and I should start dying it.
I think it's because once grandma quit dying her hair she looked so much older.

Nope, not since I used Lite and Brite years ago and it turned orange. Also my former neighbor dyed her beautiful black hair blonde, and it all fell out! But that was in the 60's.

I use Preference or Excellence by L'Oreal and have never had a problem with any of the colors I use (med golden brown, light golden brown, med chestnut brown, med amber brown - just depends on the season) ... but I sure have a problem with the gray that peeks through every six weeks. :-)

I'm nearly 58 and started going gray when I was 35. I was delivered some terrible health news and the gray started showing up at the temples shortly thereafter. I never believed in hair going gray from shock until that happened. Neither of my parents went prematurely gray.

I'd love to 'just go grey', but I never will. I have a big section of hair pretty much right over the right side of my forehead that is the same dark black/brown I had when I wwas younger. If I could have my grandfather's bright white mane, I'd be happy to stop coloring. Unfortunately I have my maternal grandmother's and my mother's hair color. I'd be icky iron grey -- with that big blotch of black/brown.

I do because I'm so pale that if I let my hair go grey, I would look completely faded out. I have a topper that I wear for a few weeks when the roots start to shine so that I can go longer between colorings. I first started seeing grey hairs in my 20's. I have no idea if I have any color left.

Yes, every 5 weeks. Been a medium blonde for about 15 years now.
My mother taught me that, as you age, your skin tone changes, and that I should lighten my hair (she meant getting it done professionally, of course).
It worked for her and it works for me.

Also like her, I never went grey...went from brown to white, in my mid 50's. That was my clue that it was time to go blonde.

Never used that box stuff.

Yes and I will continue to do so for many more years. I started getting white hair in high school, by my mid 30's I had more white hair then my parents. By my mid 40's I would have been completely white if I didn't dye it. Now I'm just over 60 and I have no intention of going white for quite a while.

No. I did until better than half of it fell out last spring from the chemicals in my inhaler. I was afraid to stress it anymore and my hairdresser agreed. We like it! The back is dark with some silver, the front and sides are mostly white. Thanks to Biotin supplements, most of it has grown back. Even tho I have changed inhalers, I am scared to death to have to use it. I have done both, colored my own, and the last 5-8 years have had my hairdresser do it. She's the only one I let touch it, even for a hair cut.

just used the temp color but clairol has messed up the colors...and sure wasn't happy with the color..looked like my calico cat. lol...(without the black)

I haven't had my hair colored for the last 5 months. I will be 70 the end of this month and I decided I don't want to keep looking 10 years younger than I am. My next hair cut should take most of the color off. My hair is quite short.

Yes, I'm only 49 and although, I like the whitish gray color of what turns gray it does make me feel old. It also isn't completely gray so it's not as pretty as if it were a solid gray-white. Maybe in another 10 years I'll give up dying it. I use Loreal, the creme type that doesn't drip.

I started going grey at age 28. Been buying hair dye for $1 a box....at the dollar store. I mix half a box.

It costs .50 cents to dye my hair. :0) Lasts 6 weeks before my roots are significant to dye again...

I started to get white hairs when I was about 21. After I married, I frosted my hair for the years I was having babies. With frosting, your hair can grow out a lot and still look good. Finally, I had a bad reaction to a permanent, and so I quit the bother and cost of chemicals and cut off all the color to a very short bob. Lo and behold, the hair looked the same as when I was frosting it, but the frosting was white instead of blond. Now I have a head of white hair, just like my dad. I think I had all white hair by the time I was 50.

Not since high school. In my sophomore year I went from light brown to eventual reddish blond, by the time I was a senior I was nearly a platinum blond!

Every 5 weeks. Hair color is my only feminine indulgence. I let her play all she wants with my color. In winter we go more red in spring we start putting more and more stripy highlights in. She puts different toners on the highlights. On time she used 4 or 5 different colors at one sitting.

Yes.I'm 82 and still want that extra lift.Most of my friends dye their hair dark brown and we know it.I dye mine light brown and they know it.Do what ever makes you feel good.You ware glasses and have false teeth so what;s the difference?

My hubs is almost two years younger than I am, and from what he tells me (and from the photos I've seen), he started going gray when he was in college. So he doesn't have any standing to tell me not to be gray!

I used to use Clairol's Loving Care (the stuff that gradually wahses out over about 6 weeks). I had just done it, and two nights later my brother was hospitalized and not expected to live through the night. He survived the night, and spent the next 6.5 weeks in Intensive Care, with another 3 weeks in Oncology. He had converted from HIV+ to full-blown AIDS.

We live in Sacramento County, and my brother lived (and was hospitalized) in San Francisco. I stayed with him the entire time, except for 3 random nights. The nursing staff at the hospital was wonderful, and one of the nuns gave me the key to her apartment several times so I could take a real shower. But usually I was lucky to get to do a quick sponge bath in one of the public restrooms. So, there was no way I could keep up with coloring my hair.

And when my brother was discharged a week before Thanksgiving, the doctors told me that he probably wouldn't live to the end of the year. They were off by 9 months. :-)

During that time, I realized that there are more important things in life than coloring my hair. And I get loads of positive/flattering comments on the color, which is nice. It's been almost 19 yeaars since I've colored it.

My Mother who is 91 still dyes her hair. She is always after me to do it too. It is funny when we have a picture taken together, she is blonde and I am grey.

I sure do and will continue to do so. I don't want gray hair. My mom turned gray at age 16. My dad still had the dark brown hair when he died at age 85. I inherited the brown color of my dad, but the tendency to gray from mom.

I'm 29 and I have a little gray hair thanks to genetics and stress, I'm sure. It's really noticeable because it's right on the top of my head, and my hair is very dark.

I want to dye my hair but having all those chemicals sit on my scalp for half an hour every month just for vanity makes me uncomfortable. I realize I'm a weirdo in my avoidance of chemicals but it is outside of my personal comfort zone.

No. I wasn't blessed with a lot of great physical bonuses but my hair was one. I'm 67 and have a little gray on the sides and a couple places on the top that look like highlights. My brother will be 73 next month and has coal black hair. My sisters all dye or have gray hair. Wish I could trade my baggy eyes for the hair because dyeing it would be easier than surgery. LOL

I've earned every single one of my grey hairs and love being grey. My hair is actually almost silver/white and I love it!

I used to get it foiled for highlights. After the transplant, when it came back in, it was ALL white and gray. I did have some white before transplant, and I called them my natural highlights.

I feel like this hair makes me look 10 to 15 years older. I don't like that feeling, but with my lymphoma, I'm also nervous of the chemicals. So I think I will leave it natural.

My late father had the most beautiful head of thick white hair; his mother as well.

Absolutely! I had significant gray by age 28, and now, in my 50's, I'm totally gray (or at least so says my roots). Grizzled gray hair is what's natural for me now, which is why I dye it back to my natural auburn and use a good straightening iron.

I've never colored my hair in my life. Grey has made an appearance, and the blonde hair isn't as blonde as it used to be, but I'm not unhappy with it. I've always liked a natural look. And as a hair stylist said to me just last week, "Think of how much money you've saved over the years!"

Carol, it was the Atrovent that did it. I am back on the Albuteral, but I am afraid to use it. I was switched after a reaction to the Albuteral. I only need it a couple of times in the spring and fall. The insurance companies won't let me have anything else because I didn't go to the ER when I had my reaction to the Albuteral, and don't consider hair loss a good enough reason with the Atrovent. I have the Albuteral filled, but haven't really needed it, tho probably should have a couple of times.

The Albuteral will also cause me to loose my hair, but I always just figured it was a winter shed when I would have a lot extra in the shower drain. After my experience with the Atrovent, I know better.
