Remember my post abt my Sis at Target?

It was about her working and hurt her already injured knee and was laying on the floor in the isle of the store and a lady customer just said excuse me and stepped over her. Well, we nagged sis and she finally went to see what was wrong with her knee. It turns out she has a torn- ( I'm writing this phonetically) masicas and will be having surgery sometime next week. She is such a stubborn and tough gal, she always tries to tough through things, but I told her that some things will not heal themselves and she had better get her butt to a DR. She usually lives up to her nickname...Taz, for tazmanian devil. LOL Dottie

Glad you got her to go to a Dr. and get the problem resolved.

Meniscus Dotty? If so our son just had his removed, DSIL just had her's repaired! LOL We were joking it was contagious in our family!

Arlosmom - I hope it is not tacky to ask, but do you remember how much your liner tile cost? I have been thinking about it ever since I saw your pics. I also wonder how a black version would look. I hope it would be gray at the lighter parts and concentrated black in the crevices. I will be meeting with a tile person at a fancy schmancy tile store next week because they are the only ones who carry Mission Tile West near here, and they may carry Pratt & Larsen as well. Luckily, we had decided to splurge on the custom 2" figure 8 liner from them as our big extravagance and then later that day found out our builder is the neighbor of the manager and has done work for her. He called her and she told him he'd get a discount on the tiles, which he is passing on to me. This is a crude attempt to mock up our backsplash. The plan is to put a 1/2" plain black liner on each side of our custom ones (as seen in the mockup), but after seeing your tile, I wonder if yours as the 1/2" ones would be much better. The egg and dart may soften up our geometric edges a little. Or, we could do the style that has the top 2" cap with the egg and dart built in, therefore combining the 2 inch top planned with your liner. That would mean only doing 1 pricier upscale "line" instead of 2 (2 x a lower price may still be a higher total). In any case, the pattern is really cool and I am hoping to work it into my design somehow.

My brother had a basement apt. in DC too years back. He got a lot of stuff on sale, but what I remember liking most was the black and white photos in black or silver frames. Definitely get a lot of lighting, and my feeling is not to be afraid of some color in a dark space, just add enough lighting to offset it. To me, deep color in a dark space looks better than off white which ends up looking dingy. Here is a pic of my almost finished basement family room in RH Dusk, a mid tone denimy blue. Ceiling will be black, trim will be a light tan, floors are light and carpet is light. It feels very cool and cozy. We still need to do the ceiling, trim and add the overhead lights. All the furnishings were things we had. (The crazy lamps were bought at Target for $5 each and the rug was $125, it's wool and 8x10, from Home Decorators OUtlet!) lacey-when you try to do several quick posts to one thread, the site does get cranky. all you need to do is change the text in the "subject of posting" box above the message box, and it will accept your subsequent posts. weird, but true! Lady Jane Grey is an enigma, and thus an easy subject to "historic-fictionalize." Carolly Erickson, whom I have enjoyed as a biographer for many years, has been seduced by the success of the Other Boleyn Girl series into doing one of Lady Jane...imho, greatly inferior to her bios of the Tudors. sigh.

When I first moved from Ca to the Deep South I was surprised at many words. I had to ask a woman what she was talking about when she kept saying buggy. She explained that means grocery cart. When I heard another woman say, “you’ins” I though maybe she meant a type of sheep?? I asked someone what a you’in was, they explained it’s like y’all. I also was confused when I would help with the dishes at a dinner party and the hostess would say, “Put those casserole dishes up” why would she say up and then point to a cupboard that was down. I quickly learned putting something up in the south means anywhere that it’s supposed to go.

Thanks, Nodakgal, that is probably it. I just wrote it down as it sounded when she called. Wow. it sounds like and epidemic of knee injuries. LOL I hope your family members heal fast too. Dottie

Why do I get the feeling if "Taz" were to get caught in a trap, she'd just chew her leg off and move on??? ;)

Glad she's getting it fixed up. Hope she's back on her feet soon. And store policy or not, she has my permission to abuse customers any time she wants!

My husband fell while ice skating and tore his medial meniscus, it's somewhere in the knee. Docs recomended surgery involving tissue transplant from a cadaver (yikes) but he refused. It healed but he occasionally gets pain. That was 20 years ago. Glad your sis is having surgery. Blessings for a quick recovery!

My youngest son had to have the surgery with cadaver transplant. We now call him "dead man walking"! Poor kid, he has had lots of knee injuries. He turns 30 on Friday!Kathy G in MI

Both my kids have had knee surgeries. Tell your sis to see if they will give her a cryotherapy machine for at home. Some insurance will cover it and some won't. It's a little ice chest that pumps iced water through a cooling pad that is laid or wrapped around the surgical site. It really helps with the post operative pain. DS didn't even take pain meds but he hate them and is very stoic. The ice unit was a life saver for him. He paid for it out of pocket since his insurance wouldn't cover it but I imagine they can be rented.
