Old pic. This is my half sis when she was small

She and I shared our father. Her mother passed away in childbirth when my half brother was born. She was 18 months when her mother died.

This is an old sepa color but I can tell you those eyes were the clearest blue ever.

Don't you just love the socks?....lol

I have one of my dad carrying her I will post later. I was born about 10 years later

Heh. The landscaper. I think she and her husband didn't want me. She did plant 12 roses for me (I thought I couldn't do that many in one day), quoted me a price then wanted more, and I did hold her to what she first quoted - verbally. Then I wanted some bricks laid and some large trellises set up. Saw her husband out there measuring, never sent me an estimate. Figured my house and yard would make her look bad her first job. Not the first time somebody didn't want a job, and I'm nice to anyone who works for me, too nice sometimes. Well the house looks beautiful, freshly painted, and I've done almost all the planting and digging myself, can't lay bricks. The lawn needs attention and more done on the house outside you don't notice like the paint, new steps were poured, custom iron rails front and back, garage entry door replaced. Old (youngish) neighbor came by and stopped to chat when she saw me outside, said it was the nicest house on the block now, well I thought hers was nicer and a couple other ones a lot newer, but mine is the only craftsman bungalow w/its original cedar shingles, some dents and scrapes but not curled and warped like some get over time. Got a chunk of drywall in my hot little hand, partly crumbled when I tore the loose piece out. Thank you for thinking of that! Probably shouldn't tell it, divorced mom, 3 kids, son when teenager got mad and punched a hole in the hall by where I work/play on my computer, haven't gotten to having it fixed. Could fix it myself if I set my mind to it, pretty much know how to do it, just so much else to tend to by myself now, done lots of fixing myself in recent years, some I have to hire done. Son should do this for me, but he's done other nice things to make up for it. His dad had a terrible temper like that, too, and he didn't live around his dad since he was two. I had a bad temper, too, but didn't damage things since I was a kid. When my sewing went bad, I'd sometimes lose it and tear it up, couldn't get away with much though with my parents. My dad very rarely lost his temper but was never destructive or swore. Mom threw a pot at my sister lol, only time I ever saw her do anything like that, both been gone for years now, my mother 40 years this year. The gyp I saw in a T&M catalog w/some sweet peas, but they didn't sell seeds for that kind. Took it to the nursery, one worker had some in his yard, but they don't sell it. The people in the florist shop section told me what it was.

I have them growing in both and it makes no difference for THIS hoya. With others it may make a difference. When I bought this plant it was less than half the size and was in a 14" basket so I have actualy potted it down some. I live in Oregon where it is cool and overcast a lot of the year. Carnosa plants are just growers and the beer fert. is amazing. I also use the MSU fert. and am conducting my own experiments on which works (for me) better/longer etc. One thing I have learned from spending years on these websites is that NOTHING works for everyone. What works for me may or may not work for anyone else. I have to repot all the hoya I get from AH in Hawaii or they die within a few months. Most people love her soil but it does not work for me or another gal who lives close to me. Our enviroment is just too different from Hawaii. BTW, I potted up the cuttings you sent me and they are all doing well :) I prefer to be anonymous on this site. Thanks Slowmedown. But I must confess, it was Donna Dewberry who taught me. I saw her on QVC one day and I was off and running buying her books and videos and paints. I am no where near as good as she is, she's got 25 years of painting experience under her belt. I try my best is all I do. Hopefully it comes out good. There are several things I've repainted over cause I didn't like it. One was of an old farm milk can that I was doing for my brother. I repainted that thing black five times before I finally liked the floral design I ended up painting. When I was done and gave it back to him he wasn't home so I left it on his porch with a note saying, Hope you like it, call me. He did call and, well, I must tell you, my bro can be very critical in his comments, only telling the truth, but he said Sal, it really is great looking, I love it. I didn't think it was going to look that good, thank you, I'll display it all the time. So that made me feel really good knowing he thought it was good. Another time one of my sister's whom I always thought didn't like my crafty things, really liked the painted farm mailbox and wanted it for herself (but then ended up giving it to our other sis who has breast cancer) to cheer her up. So I also gave her my homemade gift of a wooden planter made by another bro. Sal

Lavon...how many cats or how many raccoons? The most raccoons I have counted at one time was about 60, but I don't think there are that many now, although there is no telling how many come during the night. Like my husband said, there is no telling what comes down there at night to eat. Very seldom is there any food left over. As for how many cats...I don't know that either. Maybe 30. I feed a little more than 20 lb. of cat food a day, plus some of the cats eat with the raccoons too. People (who know hogs) are more surprised that the hogs don't bother my chickens than the raccoons not bothering the cats. They tell me that hogs love to eat chickens. But, everything here is fed so well...they really don't bother each other very much. Tonight Piggy Lee got after Coach (my old dog), and I had to chase her off of him, but I can see why she did it. He will not leave her alone. I feel sorry for him, but he is the dumbest dog I have ever had. Amos, the donkey, stomped him a few days ago, and at least he learned to stay out of that pasture but no matter how many times Piggy Lee gets after him, he won't leave her alone, and always picks the fights. Chisue, I don't know for sure what kind of dog Zelda is mixed up with. She is part dachshund for sure, and I thought maybe part Schnauzer of maybe even Scottie. I found her when she was about 5 months old, sitting by the highway about a mile from here. No houses around. I couldn't find her owner but I thought she might have belonged to our local hog hunter's girlfriend. They both went to prison for DWIs...about the time she showed up, but I have since found out she didn't belong to her. I thought she did because their hog dogs would often run after their truck when they went somewhere, and Zelda had a hunk bitten out of her back leg, like those dogs will do to other animals. I should have known she didn't belong to them. She was healthy, clean, and didn't have fleas. I have no idea how she ended up just sitting by the highway.

She passed away over 11 years ago...I know it was before I moved here...but can't remember how long.

Seeing this picture has made me really miss her.

How adorable she was. I never knew children wore garters. Do you have the picture in a frame? That would be nice to protect it and you could have it out to see often.

No I don't have it in a frame...yet...I don't even have a photo of it yet. I just found this on facebook where her son had posted it.

I sent him a message and ask him if he has the time would he send me anything he thinks I might be interested in.

He said the pictures are all in a box in the garage...I almost cried. He needs to get them inside so they don't get bug or mouse eaten. Now I'm worried about them...I'm going to have to keep encouraging him to go out and get them. If he doesn't want them I DO...!!! My sis would have had a fit.

And yes I will post the other but I've been messing around so much tonight on other things and now my eyes are telling me it time to shut them...so it will be tomorrow.

How did she die? How did she Live? She had a son?

She was diagnosed with Lupus when she was a soph. in high school. She nearly died then but it went into remission and stayed in remission until she was in her 60's

I don't know if she had multi problems or if the Lupus causes high blood pressure, but hers was very high and they couldn't control it even with taking several blood pressure pills.

She sat down in her recliner one evening to read her Bible...and never woke up. The next morning her husband found her there with her open Bible laying on her chest. He though she was asleep. He said she looked so peaceful.

She didn't have a real good life but she made the best of it. She was very friendly and loved being with people.

She didn't take to my mom who came to take care of the two little ones when my dad's first wife died. She had been with her grandmother and wanted to stay there.

I remember she had bad eye problems and hated to wear glasses. I think the kids probably made fun of her. But even though the gave her a lot of problems they were still beautiful.

Her son was the highlight of her life. She wasn't supposed to have any children because of her health...but I'm glad it happened anyway.

I'm not sure of the year...I think she was born around 34 or 35. She looks to me to be about 3 maybe. She must have been standing by her grandmothers piano. Although my grandmother had a piano...I'll have to show this to my older cousin to see if she recognizes the piano.

Maybe Jann AZ would know...we have the same grandmother.
