Need Gift ideas...

One of our reps has been diagnoised with I think prostrate cancer (it may have been colon cancer)...cancer. He's late 40/early 50's. This will sound odd, I've never personally met him, but have worked with him over the phone for a few years. My supervisor and i would like to send him a gift. He's had surgery and is now on chemo once a week for 6 months. He's in Michigan, we're in Minnesota, so some ideas are kinda hard to do, plus we really don't know him "personally" if you know what I mean.

So here's my idea. I've been ill before for a long period of time, and know that after a while you get depressed, and want to just have a "pity party", so I thought to cheer him up to make him a "pity party" in a bag (Hoping to put a smile on his face if even for a few minutes) . Some party favors, and silly party "things"....any ideas, is this too stupid, what ideas does anyone have? We don't know what he likes to read, if he's allergic to anything, etc. (I've already made him a lapghan - in leu of a prayer shawl--that he loved). I've tried to look things up on the internet, but some are too "girlie" others are too personal (and again since i don't know allergies don't dare get him).

Any ideas will be appreciated.
