I'm not sure I even want to like it, because it's so "different" -- but I keep going back to #2, the Westport bed. There's something about it that reminds me of something out of a child's storybook, but then again, maybe that's why I really, really do like it. I think it would work beautifully with that gorgeous armoire, and just be so pretty in your already-pretty room.

I love #4 but if the woods don't match or at least coordinate then I probably wouldn't buy it.
I've had an upholstered bed that my parents made for us since I got married in '91. It's been reupholstered but I have always loved it.
I would buy #3. #1 is too square, #2 is too expensive and #3 is just right! I might even consider the leather if it's nice and rich looking. You might want to consider cost of reupholstering.

A leather bed sounds soooo luxurious and decadent. Besides, if you're a read in bed person, that big upholstered headboard would be handy.

# 4 is very similar to mine and my DH & DS refer to it as "the ledge of death" due to the ledge running around the perimeter that is a shin killer.

I like the wings on 2 & 3 but they may be bothersome and will require you to pull the nightstands out from the wall to be able to reach them while in bed and may block the reading light.

I would choose # 1.

I've always liked the shape of the Marie bed at Ballard Designs. Variety of fabrics too.

A leather wingback bed would be absolutely decadent to DH & me so I'd get #3 although I love the 'overscaledness' of #2 best.

I vote for number 1 or 4.

#4 no question. Gorgeous!! The other beds have the fabric headboard and for me personally, a fabric headboard is a dust magnet (and dust that can't necessarily be seen).

I'm not liking the turned corners of the other beds. That would bother me alot.

I think you can do alot more with #4.

I like #4 the best. Just looks more classic to me. Not trendy at all.

I like #1 or #4. Have you considered an iron bed? I bought a beautiful bed from claudiorayes.com. It's a work of art.

I'm not crazy about #1; #2 and #3 look too trendy and I think you'll get tired of it. If you still like that look, I would go more traditional along the lines like what Allison posted.

Of all of them, #4 has my vote.

If the wood on bed #4 goes with the armoire, that's the one I would choose. If you really wanted the fabric headboard, I would probably choose #1.

OK, it looks like #4 wins so far. It is the most classic. The ledge of death comment made me laugh, but looking at the bed it really could be an issue. I can see catching a shin on that corner many a morning.
The other beds do feel trendy, but that Westport bed has been tempting me ever since I saw the first WS Home catalog. It's *so* expensive and WS doesn't have sales very often. The WS knockoff has a better price and since leather is more durable, the bed would hold up better for the long haul.

What a gorgeous room! I like number 4, because i think it's a nice compliment to the wood piece you're keeping, and also the ceiling fan.

I love #4, but I think it feels too heavy for the lightness of the room. And I think the heavy look, also, could be a dating factor in 10 years.

That said...#1 for the upholstered bed. #2 is waaaay too trendy looking, and #3 is trend-lite.

What makes the #3 bed a "knockoff" of WS #2 bed? It's not as if WS sells the more authentic, genuine article.

Upholstered beds do collect dust and can be bad for allergies.

Your room is beautiful, and whatever you choose will look lovely in there.

I hope you don't mind, but I looked at the rest of your pictures and I was wondering if you could tell me the paint colors in your laundry room and mudroom, along with your bedroom.

I think of #3 as a knockoff because it looks like a smaller,cheaper, and less elegant version of #2. Maybe because I see the WS as the "ideal". I don't know...
The house was already painted, so i don't know what the colors are. It amazing how the builder picked just the right colors.
I'm still not sure about the bed though.

I was out shopping today and saw a pair of loveseats or high back benches (?) with the same lines as #2. Have you seen something like this in person? I've only seen in magazines. I was "iffy" on whether or not I liked the pieces, but in person they are definitely something I wouldn't want. Something unnatural about them....I'm not sure how else to explain. I would hate to order something like this before seeing in person.

I just wantd to add that I peeked at your pictures too! BEAUTIFUL!!!! You must be so ready to move on in! Can you please share your cabinet hardware? THANK YOU! What have you decided for the bed? I think you could be thrilled with any of the fine choices!

I prefer headboards made of wood because fabric is harder to keep clean especially a light colored one. Over time, if you lean your head against a fabric headboard your hair could leave "body oils" behind. Have you ever watched a decorating show where they're doing a room makeover and when they move the bed away from the white wall (where there was no headboard) you see a stripe of dirt that runs across the width of the bed. It's disgusting, and for that reason I would shy away from anything made of fabric. Not even leather but at least with that you can condition.

It doesn't look like #4 goes with the style of the armoire. Is the armoire a Mission style? The doors appear to be but the legs I'm not so sure of. Bed frame #4 has red undertones to the wood, what you often see with the British Colonial style/Bombay Company style. Is that how you want to decorate the room?

Your bedroom is gorgeous without even a stick of furniture in it! Because you painted it before you bought your furniture now you're going to have to be more careful about the wood tones you place in the room. Color has undertones to it, paint color can have yellow undertone to it, or an orange, or green or pink,etc. Just because it's a neutral beige doesn't mean it goes with everything. You can tell by looking at the paint chip on the fan deck, if the colors next to it are trending towards the yellows then you know your color has a yellow undertone to it. If you chose a bed with a red undertone it may not look right in the room if the undertones of the paint on the wall tend towards the yellows, as if appears yours does. Even though it's very subtle you should always consider it when chosing paint colors because your eye will pick up that something isn't quite right even if it isn't glaringly obvious.

Thanks so much for the advice everyone. The "Alice in Wonderland" (aka #2 and #3 beds) aren't appealing to anyone but a few folks here and me, even DDs hate them! DH isn't crazy about the upholstered option unless it's leather. He's generally agreeable but prefers wood and he wants it to match the armoire, or as close as possible.
I found these beds which seem to have the same finish and similar styling as the armoire, but I need to see them in person.

I love all of the wooden beds you've posted, particularly the last one. I can see that fitting perfectly into that gorgeous room.

And I wouldn't worry if the wood tones don't match perfectly either. I simply never thought all of the woods in a room had to match.
