One pull or two on this cab? Please vote (pics)!

I have chosen to use only one pull (per lowspark) on my 30" wide drawer stacks, which I think looks fine, but this drawer I'm not sure about due to the configuration of the drawers/door beneath. It is only 24" wide. Which looks better? Please vote - one pull or two?

I would do one--otherwise it will take you 2 hands to open the drawer.

I disagree about the two hands, if you have good drawer glides. I have no trouble opening my wide drawers with one hand, except that a couple of drawers are off track and need fixing. The ones that are right are easy to open.

I thought before I saw the pictures that I would say two but where you have them placed makes me think one is better. With all the ones on the right side lined up, it makes the top drawer feel like it should be the same width.

If you could move the two pulls outward a little so that the right pull is not lined up with the pulls on the other three drawers, I might like two better (maybe center the left pull with the door panel below and put the right one the same distance. I think that would be my vote, but can you show the other drawers in relation to this stack?

Thank you all again. I begin to doubt my choices after awhile as I'm getting worn out! I have decided on ORB. It seems to go well with my counter tops which are actually a bronze tone. I was expecting more of a black when I ordered them but the specks of color made them look different. The ORB handles have a great projection also, which my husband and I decided was important. My second choice would have been antique nickle as I think those would have looked nice as well. Again, I appreciate everyone's input... off to the finish line.

Thank you all for your thoughtful responses! The large white elephant at the end of the island in pic #1 will be replaced by beadboard, so I'll end up with beadboard on all 4 sides of the island. I can't just add molding because these are not classic shaker cabinets. I would need to take a closeup to show the detail, but where classic shaker cabs have 1 wide piece of trim (rail? stile? you'd think that I'd have learned its name by now), mine have 2, and the top flows into the second in a cove style -- my attempt to be subtly different. So I'd have to go thru my KD to the cab co. I'm fed up with her. I'll probably ask her to price the door option but I have some idea that's the most expensive way to go, and I'm also fed up with the little extras and cost overruns. I am having second thoughts about the maple beadboard piece above the range hood -- and livewire has articulated the issue better than I ever could. When I first posted here, I thought the way to tie it in to the rest of the kitchen was to add more beadboard. Now I'm having serious second thoughts about replacing it altogether with plain trim. I may try posting again once the range hood is up (manana...always manana). Once again, I really, really wish I'd discovered this site while still in the design phase and not in the cabinets-already-ordered-too-late-now phase! I do understand why KDs get fed up with clients -- a lot of us (including me) can't fully visualize a kitchen element on paper (or in a computer program) and don't realize what it is until it's fully installed, and then we want it changed!

I love stainless, in fact DH is one of the largest fabrictors on the east coast, but I don't think it melds well in many kitchens. Perhaps, if you are planning a stainless sink, you could have a large drainboard surround with runnels fabricated consistent with that period look. I also vote for #3. Have you considered adding texture to the island base? White beadboard would be fabulous! Are you planning hardwood floors? Another suggestion would be have the island base stained a tone just a tad darker than the floor - it will ground the space nicely and your marble will really pop.

I've had a longer bail pull on a pot drawer before. As an adult, I *knew* to not pull on it from the side or mishandle it. However, in my home, then of four children...some teens that were in a hurry, mispulled and eventually the handle slipped out of the socket and it was a problem forevermore. In my 36" desk drawer front there are two 5.5" bail pulls. It works great and looks proportionate. I decided to use two handles on my wider drawers in my kitchen. I'd show you but we're literally doing glazing on my doors today and they're not installed right now. Just consider 'who' will be using the drawers and how much weight will be in those drawers before you decide on one pull or not. I would opt for two pulls. People can't use them if they're not there.

I agree: one. The mock up has less distance to the outside of the left pull than the right pull. If you want the two pulls equidistant from the sides, you'll have to bring the left one in, and I think it might start looking really awkward.

One, because otherwise the pull on the right is going to be askew from the pulls underneath it, or it will align with them and the two pulls will be too close together.

One. It looks less cluttered. That drawer isn't big enough to accommodate two pulls.

ONE again.

If you are worried about symmetry, do they sell a similar item but in a BAR? Know what I mean.

What's that rectangular hole/latch on the counter top lip?

one. there is no way to line up the two to be symmetric on the single and line up with the lower drawers and look right.

Hi Jen! I vote for one. I like your cabinet configuration there--very clever. Can we take a peek inside?

What color cabs did you get BTW? I haven't ordered mine yet (surprise, surprise) because I am now trying to decide if I want THEM to paint them, instead of me.

I have to stop procrastinating at some point and pull the darned trigger! Can't wait to see you pics!
