white and stained woodwork
Comments (2)On an episode of Design Inc. they had an issue that was pretty similar. You can see over the doorway where the trim is white but on either side the trim is dark like the cabinets. I think that yuo could easily stop the white trim at the corner or wherever you'd like and let the dark trim pick up. Here is a link that might be useful: Denise's Kitchen...See MoreI ordered this sofa and ten I just stopped...:(
Comments (48)I am still deciding what I want to do. Mulling maybe is a better word. Sallymo, I had a painter out for my foyer yesterday. He is coming back with my estimate today and the foyer will be painted withing the next month regardless of who paints it. I may decide to go that way while I have a painter here. I am sort of focused on my finals until Friday and I may run after and see what I can find. I thought perhaps some pictures matted in cream (black and whites or sepia) of my children and family would bring a good feel to the room and the cream mattings would brighten things up a little if I went that route. I am also am looking at pillow covers on Etsy in patterns to cover my pillows. I thought I could still use the same forms and sizes and find a brown linen, a blue linen and then I really like the pottery barn ones. They should fit my current smaller pillows. I am sort of getting a vision. I want new lamps and I just need to find them!...See MoreJust stopping to say "hi" to my SH friends
Comments (13)Phoggie, given what I hear on the HGTV HOUSE HUNTERS show, the first thing the prospective buyers say when they hit the kitchen is, "I'll have to deduct from the asking price to replace these countertops." Maybe granite will go out one day, but I think the use of an easy-to-live-with pattern in it is the secret to longevity. Now that said, we do not have granite in the house up in MA that will SOON (so DH tells me) be ready to call the realtor. Instead, he chose a Silestone pattern, STELLAR SNOW. It is sort of white and gray with sparkly flakes in it, and honestly, you have to touch it to find anything needs wiping up, be it water or crumbs from the toaster. And it has never stained regardless of how many pomegranates I cut on it, or how many blueberries. Plus, it is naturally antibacterial. It also is durable and comes in a variety of grades and thicknesses and colors/patterns. I liked it so well that is the same pattern and material I plan to put into this kitchen on the sink side. On the range side, which is a stainless steel stove, I plan on stainless counter tops on that side with maybe a stainless backsplash too. You'll have to take a look at the way I plan to set it up sort of a cooking alcove with the end towards the dining room having a 4' long higher bar and that counter will also have the Silestone STELLAR SNOW on it. Don't want to hijack your thread, so come back again and look for a new kitchen thread pretty soon. :) Yes, it is a BRIBE....See MorePaint Woodwork White?
Comments (16)On my screen your walls look to be a bright white. I am thinking of a white such as BM White Down. I have BM Swiss Coffee in my living room and it too is a warm white. Look on line for "warm white paints" and you will see dozens of warm whites. The surest way to get the right color for your rooms is to go to a paint store ( I always use BM) and ask for a warm white. ask the salesperson to explain the differences to you , take home way too many samples, look at them at night, in the morning, next to your trim, next to the window.....all around the room. Buy some samples and paint them on the walls randomly...see what looks good to you. Yes this takes time but I promise you will be happy with the result.
