Yes mandolis-- they are cutting from the growing tips of mature geraniums. The purpose of laying them out to callus over is to partly seal the end so the cutting can't take up as much moisture. It gets enough to send out roots but not excess moisture which can cause blackleg in geranium cuttings. The leaves do wilt but at least some of the leaves on each cutting perk up once they are planted. I learned this trick from an expert gardener and it really works. I've been at this for years. The first few years I ever did I didn't callus them over and I lost about half every time. Then I learned the trick of callusing them over and it cut down dramatically on my losses but I still lost a few. This year combined with lessons of the past I think I've finally found the secret of not losing any

Hi Josh, I have been meaning to email you. I got fed up with the B.S. on the C and S forum, so I don't post there any longer! I will get a pic of my avocado 'Day' here soon. I am getting 2 boxes of brugmansia cuttings this week so when they get here, I have to get pics of them and I will take pics of the avocado. How are your jades and citrus? I have seen a few pics on th C and S forum. I don't even post comments as I am not wanting any retaliation from that dumba** PG! I would like to see pics of your avocado! I have never seen it before. How old is it? I have heard the same thing. I even heard that it can take longer if there potted. I appreciate that you cleared that up though. So how did Byron explain himself? I still don't have any respect for Logees. They thrive on the fact that there customers are not familiar with tropicals, so they feel they have the right to charge un real amounts for there TEENY TINY plants, especially there tropical fruit trees. Mike, do you know that a long time ago I bought over a hundred dollars in plants and they arrived DEAD, and I NEVER got my money back and they wouldn't honor there credit that they sent to me! I only order from them when I feel like I don't have a choice. That was the ONLY reason I ordered my 'Day' from them and I went thru such a hassle with them! Byron was also supposed to give me a call and I NEVER heard back from him. I didn't ask to speak to him, they offered to have him call me and I said that I would LOVE to offer him mt 2 cents! Again, I felt the need to order that tangelo from them. Mike that was a nice gesture but you didn't have to! I also have to say that I am ANGRY with Four Winds! How many weeks have gone by since I emailed them about there so called contest and no email back?? That makes me feel like I just wasted my time with them and maybe I shouldn't bother buying from them again either! I boasted about there awesome quality trees and you and I both know that together, we convinced others to buy from them, and why did I do that for them? It just really makes my blood boil! Pine Island nursry is so much better than them, and I may just see if Potratz greenhouse in Erie can buy my Minneola when they are at the Tropical fruit expo. I think that it will be my best bet and I will get it at the prices in Florida and not have to pay a dime for shipping! Yeah, I am going to call them again tomorrow or maybe just go and visit them. They are going to bring me back a 'Carrie' mango and again, I will get it for $25 or $30 and not pay a dime for shipping! Andrew

Thanks! That's really helpful info. I know I often looked for min temperatures on the ovens I was considering and it was nice to be able to search and find it. I plan to use our oven for some fermenting and low temp dehydrating tasks so low temps can be important. But even without a setting, sometimes just turning on the light will give a low warm temperature for these tasks, so special settings may not be required. Also, ovens can only raise temp, not lower it, so they can't really go too low and promise to maintain (they can keep it from getting colder than that, but not warmer). For instance, here are the lowest temps on the Miele and Gaggenau wall ovens: Miele: 75 F Gaggenau: 85 F It will be difficult for the Miele to maintain that for, say, some fermenting food that produces its own heat since that isn't far above most conditioned indoor temps (and cooler than some summer days inside).

When we first moved in we found beer cans everywhere, (from the kids partying here) a pair of old pants practically shredded ( nothing in the pockets) lol, an A&P supermarket cart in the basement my dear hubby uses to move stuff around with, Old old liquor bottles in the wine cellar, dishes, clothes, rugs, bedpan, old victorian bed frame in the attic with featherbed, old marbles. I traced the history all the way back on our house -1890's Victorian, we had a baker live here, a carpenter, someone who worked for the brass co., and most interesting of all the house was built by Isaac Coe( local tycoon) for his coachman. I found a thoroughbred horseshoe nailed to a beam and painted gold. Strangest things I found out was our house was moved,- We had Twister ball players renting out the attic and last week we got a letter from a lawyer asking if we knew where a certain person was - they were trying to locate him. (Never heard of the name in my life)Hope he's not homeless living in the nearby park!!!! I think he rented here. Neighbors have told us they were glad we bought the place because the son had wild parties and the police were here a lot!!!! It seems each year we find out another funny story about this house- it never ends.........I save old pictures i found etc and plan to make a scrap book when we get a little bit ahead of all the projects.
