Stupid question... What does md mean in a listing?

It's in the description of the area the house is located in.

Zoning: Res = Residential

Zoning: md = ?

Is it 'mixed' something...?

These are single family detatched houses I'm looking at.

It could mean "Mother-Daughter"....some municipalities allow a home to be a two family dwelling in terms of separate living quarters only if it is occupied by family members...in other words...it is often (but not always) restricted from being rented out .....it is designed to allow extended family members to live in the same dwellingÂwith privacy.

Most M-DÂs have the lion's share of the house as one unitÂand a much smaller portion as the second unitÂ...either as a small studio apartment or a one bedroomÂand may or may not have a separate entrance.

As these homes appear to be single family, my bet is on the mother/daughter configuration...they are very popular in NY and NJ.

the damper should not have any opperation. Most of the time the plate is removed. If you suceed in closing it you will be dealing with co and co/2 gasses in your living space, that is if you are lucky enough to figure that out. Because code requires a damper or means to prevent drafts, openings in your insulation envelope glass doors are required to fullfill that need. In short they are required. No wonder that room is cold in winter. I agree with the other poster that gas log sets provide little heat but a fire look. If your town did it job correctly, and the home being only 7 years old, then the gas logs and there manufacturer should be listed along with lots of other info that went into your home. Once you know the manufacturer and model you should be able to down load the instructions manual and find the answers to your questions

I agree with "Hello" or "Good morning". You might choose to add the "Father" ... but doubt that you'd choose to familiarize it to "Dad". As for some brands of Protestant clergy, some speak to them using the term, "reverend, as in in, "hello, reverend", or may be referred to in such a way as, in, say, a radio interview, " ... what's your opinion about that, reverend ..." The term "reverend" is considered an adjective, as a descriptor, and one would not use it in introducing someone as "Reverend Smith" any more than one would introduce you as "good Smith", if Smith happened to be your name. When introducing such a person, in a circumstance where one wished to convey that information, one would introduce such a person as "Reverend Mr./Ms. Smith". In a radio interview, where one wished to indicate the person's title, "Rev. Mr./Ms. Smith" in the beginning, after that just "Mr./Ms. Smith", or "Jane/John", as is common in that informal atmosphere. ole joyful

I assumed it was from the Michigan State article Barrie since it was in quotes. Didn't mean to imply it was you. Maxine - as you can see there are no absolutes, no have to do anything when it comes to growing tomatoes. Over 50+ years of growing them I have tried all the various methods of supporting them and all the methods of pruning or not pruning them and then decided on what works best for me, my plants, my climate, and my growing methods. Not claiming it works for all. But what it get this old man on his high horse are all the grandiose claims out there of how it MUST be done, how this one method and ONLY this one method will give you tomatoes, success, guarantee you more/better/larger/sweeter/prettier/disease free/no pests/etc. tomatoes. It implies that those who choose other options are too dumb to know better or that we don't know a tomato when we see hundreds of them growing in our gardens. :-) Try a couple of different methods and see what works best for you. So the zone is multiple dwelling or mother daughter, but not neccessarily the house itse;f, right?

All the houses I've looked at never mentioned the mother daughter aspect if they had it. They sure didn't seem to be mother daughter type houses. I would think they'd hint of it, at least. Maybe if it's zoned that way instead of the actual house being a mother daughter, then it's possible.

Same with multiple dwelling, I guess.

Can I post an arbitrary link to one that says md? Not sure if it's against the rules here.

Usually it is labeled:
* MU (mixed use)
* MUD (mixed use development)
* CMUD (commercial mixed use development)
* ORMU (office residential mixed use)
* RCMU (residential commercial mixed use)
* RMU (residential mixed use)
* RRMU (residential retail mixed use)

I'm sure there are more. With development I see MU or MUD most often.
