Yes I still make candles in fact I'm working on some right now..Hoping to sell enough to this gal and her friends to pay for the 1/2 pig I'm buying Friday. lol (well that's my plan to make up for the huge chunk of dough)
Yes I still cook and bake alot..especially now that my family and I have changed some of our eating habits and there isn't much boxed or packaged stuff that comes in here.
I need to update my recipe web page. Hopefully once the boys are out of school (June 16) and I have a few weeks of not volunteering at the schools before they start swim lessons the whole month of July at the outdoor pool...I'll be sewing and reading and planning meals while they swim.. oh and tanning my extremities.. :o)
But in those few weeks maybe I can update and add recipes. I've gluten free ones, and non wheat ones. As well as other things.
Terri! What wonderful recipes. I'm even going to try to make biscuits again (swore I never would). I know you can't eat a lot of that anymore. It's a shame, too. I marked your site as a favorite. I'll let you know about the biscuits, but it won't be your fault if they come out like mine ususally do--like bricks! Gosh, you have the best recipes!!!
What I do is mix all the dry, cut in the shortening or butter, then stir with a fork the milk or cream, until it's about 3/4 mixed. Then dump it out onto a lightly (just enough not to stick) and knead the dough until smooth, about 10-12 times. Folding over itself and using only the heal of your hand to push it into itself. Then gently push/pat it to a circle to cut out the biscuits. The Big Daddy Biscuits need to ONLY make 6 or 7 to get big ol biscuits..and make sure your baking powder is not old.
and I say butter and cream because I follow AnnT (at the Cooking Forums) Scone philosophy too.. Flour, salt, sugar, baking powder and butter, mixed like biscuits but using cream or half and half as the wet.
Cream Scones~byAnnT 2 1/4 c AP flour 1/2 c sugar 2 1/2 t baking powder 1/2 t salt 6T butter 1 c cream extra cream and sugar
Add ins: 3/4 cup of fresh or frozen berries, dried currants or chocolate chips
Mix dry ingredients, cut in butter, stir in cream. Turn out on lightly floured board and knead to make sure all the flour is incorporated. Pat into a 7" round and cut into 6-8 wedges. Place on baking sheet and brush with cream and sprinkle sugar. Bake at 425F for 15-18 minutes.
Wow Terri!!! The things one can find out if they just read long enough...I didn't know you had a recipe page. I saved it to go back to it after I finish painting today.
Now, tell me about your candles..What kind do you make? Do you have any pictures? I would love to hear more about them.
