My husband is going for surgery tomorrow afternoon.He has just had both hands done for Carpal Tunnel and now he is going to have repair work done on his right shoulder. He had lung cancer last year and his CEA,tumor markers are up to 285. The normal is 0.00 to 4. The doctor is pretty sure that the cancer is back but they have not been able to find out where. He gets a Pet scan and blood work done every month.He was having it done every three months. He really needs this surgery and I am praying and asking for help from the KT Prayer warriors.

Update: Spoke with HR today regarding the circumstances. They allowed me the opportunity to write a letter or resignation to erase the termination. While this will keep me from qualifying for unemployment, it should make getting a job much easier down the road. I had to decide which option was better for my family and, while unemployment would have been nice in the short-term, the long-term choice was resigning. Weird situation nonetheless. They're also going to extend my insurance coverage an extra month and not charge me, which I also thought was unusual. It sounds like they know they messed up and they're trying to make it right. Too bad they can't just rehire me ha ha. As far as that goes, I've already had several hits on the job search so we'll see how that continues to go.

DH had his prostate removed 6 weeks ago because of cancer. He had the choice of removal, or radiation and we chose the removal, for various reasons. Medical surgeries have come a long way! His was done robotically and the recovery and hospital time is cut drastically. He was released the next morning. A common side-effect is incontinence. Hubby wears Depends all the time, but he hasn't had any accidents where he leaked out. He makes sure he goes to the washroom every couple of hours, so even when we're out for a length of time, he goes to the washroom. At first he couldn't feel his bladder, and didn't know when it was full. That has changed. Here is a link that might be useful: Hubby's Surgery thread

Prayers on the way and I do hope Dianne will contact the elder associations/social workers at the hospital for additional help. Could she go into a memory care unit? We have an excellent one here in ND. Many times people with dementia develop anger issues. Tell Dianne to contact the Alzheimer's association ASAP. They have some wonderful and trained people to help out with many things. They have presented programs to the people here at the assisted living complex and I have been amazed to see all the help available free. Also make sure all the legal stuff is done=wills, bank accounts, health care proxy, power of attorneys etc. I wish the family the best Marie

Iris. Hailey just beautiful. Pet owners sure do go thru much pain and sorrow along with the joy. I'm sorry you lost your lovely girl. ((((HUGS)))) I've never lost a pet since Lil is my first but just the thought is painful. Iris, I'm one of those that don't share my feelings irl. Seems it's much easier in the forum. I have had dramatic things happen in my life but I'm not really a dramatic person although I suppose with my sharing at the forum it probably appears I am. Lol. Desertsteph...LOL at the nurse. I have raised three boys..my adult sons.....need I say more. LOL when my Michael was 12 he climbed a fence at my sister's cutting his hand and ended up with a boat load of stitches. Two days later he was running around our back yard when the neighbors dog came charging biting him in the leg...more stitches and a drainage tube. ...that same day he was running down the steps fell off of one measly step and broke a leg..same leg as the dog bite. They cut a window in the cast. Oh my yep it was always something. I do certainly have drama in my life..who doesnt. Lol

He certainly has a lot going on right now. Prayers for a successful surgery and hoping they can find the cancer and get that resolved as well.

Thank all of you for your prayers.The Prayer Warriors came through again. His doctor said that everything went really well. They were able to fix the tear, remove the arthritis and bone spurs. If he does his therapy he should be golfing soon. And I know that he will be doing that therapy.

I am sorry to say that my brother did not make it. He died just before Easter. I am the only one left of my family. My Mom,Dad,two brothers and sister have gone home. It has been a really hard year, but we take it a day at a time. It is good to have friends here and at the KT.
