Counter top for resale~ Bill V. please~~

I have searched but can not find the answer I am seeking.

We are going to put our home on the market soon (even though it is very slow in this area right now), but our marble counter tops have etched so badly that I think they need to be replaced before listing.

Our home is considered in the "upper" range for here...so don't want to "cheapen" the look. But we have considered granite tiles (I can't see putting the $$$ into slab here), but I have heard that they need to be laid on a perfectly level surface...and in places, ours is out of level by just a small fraction (.01-.03) when using a digital level, but if using a bubble level, they look nearly perfect.

Bill V., I hope you read this....what is your advice?

If you think we could use the tile, would a fraction (maybe a couple of sheets of paper), ruin the way the tile will lay?..any underlayment that would make it perfectly level? Should I try them, or go with a good grade laminate?...but we need to get all we can out of this house, but need to recover the costs or replacing this counter top. ADVICE Please~~Thanks
