WOW!!!

I have the other half of the laundry room. That's a scant 5' of counter and 3' from counter to the machines behind me. Oh well. ...next lifetime.

I particularly love the view and the wildlife but the carefully arranged stash is nothing to gloss over either!

Oh my lord! Now I've got sewing room envy!!! Do you travel to organize the rest of us? At the very least I'm going to look for a silverware caddy to hold my most used tools. Right now I've got them in tooooo many pencil holders, baskets, etc. Not a good thing!

Actually, I forgot the photos of the foxes are in the album. They were taken on a trip to San Juan Island this summer to visit our daughter who was interning up there. The baby robins though, were out on the front porch a few weeks back, and I could watch them from my sewing chair. It was so cute.

What a wonderful sewing room! It looks really professional. The thing that made my jaw drop was realizing that what I at first took to be decorative panels on the cutting table are actually see-through draw fronts with fabrics showing!

Do you realize that now all the rest of us are going to be taking covetous looks at any rooms in our homes that we might be able to take over? LOL No, let me put that another way, because most of us must already be doing that: Some of us may now be emboldened to start eviction proceedings against other family members so we can imitate you!

Oh my gosh! What a wonderful room!

I have the bed down in my sewing room now, but it's large enough to put one back up in there. I also use a bed a lot to lay out sewing projects on which I am working. That way, if we have a house full of company and need an extra bed, it's there. I don't think guest sleeping quarters need to be dedicated places, just for sleeping. By the end of a visiting night, my guests prolly don't care where they flop, as long as there is something soft under them. Lol.

I am so impressed with how you did this. It does look like a professional studio, and at first I thought the link took me to a commercial display. It's not! It's your's!!!!

Biwako, I made drawer inserts out of fabric strips and insulation board to make the drawers look like that. I wanted to do fat quarters until I realized how many it would take. I wrote a little bit about how they were made in the Comments section, if you double click on the photo.

ALSO, LOL, regarding the eviction process...don't be too quick. My daughter had moved out for six years before I boxed up her shrine and made it MY space! I had a lot of guilt, but ladies here convinced me to do it, and I am so happy I did. I have to admit that she was less than pleased when I started taking "her room" over. But, I told her IF she ever WANTS to move home (ha ha) that I would happily give her the room back. Now, even she is happy.

Calliope... this IS my guest room! At first the plan was to make a murphy bed that would drop down. The black design wall would have been it's bottom side. I decided that the mechanical part of murphy beds was too expensive though. We seldom have sleep over guests. Once a year is probably overstating it. Our daughter has been home for the night about three times in 7 years. So, after very high recommendations from a friend, I bought one of those really tall Aerobeds. It is a high as a regular bed, it inflates in 3 minutes by built-in air pump and rolls up and fits in a tiny corner of one of my closets when not in use. It is actually very comfortable. I dress it in a down comforter and the duvet is a bright red on white, and with red shams and dust ruffle -- it looks cute in there when it's set up.

Connie, I remember when you started thinking about taking down the shrine. You've done a beautiful job of making it into your sewing room. Congratz for taking the plunge! I'm afraid if it was mine, it would only look like this for about..oh, maybe 5 minutes, maybe less.

dian57, The foxes live about 100 miles from our house...their pics really don't belong in with the sewing room pics, I just didn't know how to make a separate album yet.

OH MY GOSH! That room is fantastic! I also thought it looked like a picture from a magazine ... I can imagine how happy you feel when you walk in there to sew.
Maybe when I retire I can get rid of my extended classroom/guestroom/sewing room & make it just a sewing room!

You are so organized that I feel sorry for you. You are missing out on the thrill of the hunt, stalking the wild rolling fabric cutter, quietly sneaking up on the elusive pack of hand quilting needles. How boring it must be to find your scissors hanging on a peg, right where you left them instead of under the little piles of thread and fabric scraps, on the floor.
