Houzz Interview: Jen's MadeByGirl
We fell in love with Jen's beautiful art work a few months ago when Vivian (Ish and Chi) picked Jen's love print as her houzz interview giveaway gift.
A few weeks later, Jen has joined the houzz community and uploaded some of her fabulous house photos. These inspiring photos have quickly became very popular and were saved for inspiration in many ideabooks.
Jen, the proud owner of the successful blog and paper goods company madebygirl, is living and running her business from her gorgeous home in Las Vegas, Nevada (how lucky she must be!).
I’m very happy to introduce you to the talented designer, artist and blogger Jennifer Ramos and her blog MadeByGirl.
Please tell us about your "first meeting" with your house to be
I loved the layout of my home when I first walked in. Being that it was the largest house my realtor showed us, we decided to buy it right away. It was pretty well taken care of, but we've done a few upgrades since moving in 3 years ago.
The first step of your remodeling process
We decided on renovating the kitchen due to a bad water leak underneath our cabinets.
The biggest renovation challenge you faced
The kitchen. After we found out we had a bad water leak, we had to tear out all cabinets and countertops out of the kitchen. The counter tops prior to renovation were made of concrete (they were old) and were very heavy to remove and challenging to break apart. We also didn't have a kitchen to walk into for about 4 days....very frustrating.
Your favorite style and colors
I have many favorite styles...I really like contemporary along with some older antique pieces. I love the colors turquoise, yellow, pink and greens.
A spot in your house that makes you very happy/proud
My main living room along with my kitchen nook eating area.
Your precious accessory/furniture/art
This is tough. I try not to get attached to any items (just in case), but I really like all the paintings I've done myself. I find it to be much more meaningful and special. I also like my big white French provincial sofa.
Your next house project
My laundry room. It really needs help.
5 things that houzz readers need to know about you and your blog
It's quite inspirational.
Lots of photos.
We've got lots of house tours
We post almost everyday
Learn the latest on what I'm doing and the newest products added to my shop
Best tip for the remodeling beginner
I'd say tackle one project at a time & make sure it gets done in a reasonable amount of time. Sometimes people start a project & never finish it.....or they let it drag on & on. Shoot pics of the room you are looking to remodel.....add colors in Photoshop to see how a specific wall may look etc. Look online through blogs for inspiration on color ideas and furniture arrangement.
Last but not least: as a houzz friend, Jen has chosen a West Elm giveaway gift card to one of the lucky readers that will share their thoughts about her house and interview.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home and art work Jen!
