I hadn't looked at anything like this chair pic you posted but now I'll head to Ebay/Craigs/Overstock and see if they have something similar.

The chair you posted is pretty simple and won't take away from the table, which is the look I am trying to create.

Well, I'm still searching.

With our living situation I can't spend much and so far the simpler chairs, the classier, or should I say "classic" chairs like the one posted by Suero in the post above.....I might as well turn over my first-born son as partial payment.

So I went back to my original idea.....simple wood chairs with a bit of iron decor/accent on the back.

I have found several, under $150 each....I need four chairs.

Of course the chairs I love on CraigsList, I emailed the owner and they won't sell the chairs individually or without the table. *sigh*

But again, I'm second-guessing myself *so what else is new?*.
I want the table to be the focus, not too much ornamentation on the chairs.

I pulled all the packed boxes off the table and got it out of the sunroom and into the dining room.

I unrolled the area rug that was stored with the table and the dust and furballs that flew out.....amazing what collects while something is stored in a corner, isn't it?
The front bathroom is on the other side of that wall and we had a biggy flood so the baseboards and touch-up painting will have to be completed.

I blurred the mirror on the wall, the mirror in the little curio cabinet and the round glass piece on the table because my reflection was in all three! One reflection of me is bad enough but three? ...again, where's that EEK icon?

So, my question I'd like opinions for, before I have raw fingers from searching the web:
how much ornamentation/iron/metal decor on the back of the wood chairs is too much?

Here's the table.....the copper leaf around the apron of the table and the little feet of the table is showing much brighter with the flash of the camera.

Something about the scrolling on the first chair looks out of place, to me. It just looks like it doesn't belong on the style of chair, IYKWIM.

I can't see the third option close enough but it seems to have a lot of the iron.

That leaves #2 which has nicely fluid lines and more graceful metal work.

I would almost be tempted to put a parsons chair with the table.... I think it would really warm up the space and add some fabric to the room. Ballard designs has a very inexpensive parsons chair (on sale now for 109.00 per chair and add a slip cover for around 39.00 per chair. I have included a link below.... I have several parsons chairs and they are the most comfortable of any dining chair that I can think of and the lines are very straight and could be great for your parents as well.

Just my 2 and I love the look of wrought iron, but I've never found chairs with metal on the backs very comfortable. I initially also thot of parson's chairs altho wonder how they'd work with people with disabilities.

Since you are acquainted with CL could you wait awhile to see what turns up there? If you find a set you like you could resell the pieces you don't need/want. I see tremendous bargains in all styles altho can't buy as we are too far away from the nearest CL city. Many of the older styles have small chairs. I want new/old chairs that are large and they are harder to find.
