No dinner tonight. We went to a birthday brunch, ate too much, and have been dragging around all day. Neither one of us are used to eating heavily at 10:30 in the morning. Left there and went to Costco since we were close, Fred Meyer (there isn't one here locally) then home and had company for a while. Brunch was at a casino. The food is good, I had bacon and tomato omelet, more. And I did gamble a little before we left. I had almost lost my $20, won it back so played some more (slots) and that time I did lose it. DH lost his $5 on a penny machine and quit :) We're not gamblers, and I must say, its a lot more fun when I can break even or win a little. My SIL had begun with $200 and was up to almost $700 in winnings when we left, she has more disposable income than I feel I do.

Glenda, sorry you didn't get your MRI over with--and even sorrier that you had to have one in the first place. At least your lunch sounds good! Caroline, Harry used to go to convention every year for a weekend and up to our cabin that we were remodeling. Most weekends I'd go with him to the cabin, but 'ya know, it's nice to have a weekend alone once in a while. Enjoy! Mary, I'd share your shells--I'm not a fan of eggplant, either. Think our rain is about over but over the past week we got about 4". Still need more though. Shirley, you must have the cooking "bug". I need to catch it!! It was a good race, but no gray horses. Poor Harry :-) Monica, I wish I'd had a Philly cheesesteak while the kids lived in PA and took us to Philadelphia a couple of times. Everyone raves about them. Georgysmom, if we have lunch out, we're never hungry and usually don't eat at all. But if we eat at home, I guess we don't eat enough at lunch to last :-) Glad you didn't miss the race. It was a good one! 14 of the horses were either bought here in Ocala or were broken and trained here. Rhizo--question for you. When you cook the sausages just to eat (as opposed to putting them in a sauce or something), so you leave the casing on? I usually just put them in something, so I take the casing off and "scramble it. Jasdip, garlic is a pretty plant. As fast as I go through it, I should plant some myself. It's nice your DH tells you what he'd like for dinner. Harry won't say even when I ask him!!

Holy cow! I was out in the garage and heard something outside. A lot of garage doors around here (including ours) has a screen across it and works on tracks similar to a sliding glass door. I went over to look out and out of nowhere came an armadillo who casually walked across our driveway and laid down under the downspout next to the garage. Then, here comes another one. Geez, Grand Central Station for the aramdillos around here today. Anybody have a recipe--haha! Mary, gear up--we're all coming for dessert (and maybe some mac and cheese if you have any leftover). That cake sounds delicious. Shirley, your mac and cheese sounds good, too. I'm not too crazy about stuffed peppers but I do like stuffed cabbage. That's a good idea! Jasdip, you really scored on the pork loin. Even $1.88 would be a bargain around here. You can get a lot of meals out of one when there are only two people. Linda, funny you mentioned that Georgia salad with the salmon. I was talking to my sister on the phone this afternoon and she was telling me about a restaurant they went to for lunch one day last week and described that very same salad all the way down to the bacon dressing. They live in Indiana, so I guess they'd have to call it Indiana salad :-) It sounds delicious!

We both had the broiled platter which is our favorite. But we got $50 free, which was really nice and I almost splurged and went for the Maine lobster but I knew it would be way too much food. The platter was too much. I am a member of their select members club which means that you get $25 free on your birthday month, they allow you to go up to 15 days past your birthday month so I just made it. We had planned to go on my birthday while we were in Galveston but we never made it. I also had another $25 free built up on my card. If you like Landrys or any of their many other restaurants that card is such a no brainer, such a great deal, check out the information on the Landrys site. I had a thank you email from them when I got home which also let me know how many points I earned tonight and how many total I have.
