My sister was telling me about someone she knows that recently started using some, but it wasn't that brand. The girl really likes them because she can "smoke" in the bathroom at work.

I'm pretty sure the ones she described had nicotine because she said you still get the nicotine fix without all of the other bad stuff.

I'll see if I can get with her over this weekend and find out what the brand is.

DH uses SmokeStik. He chose that brand because they are made in the USA. You can get the cartridges with or without nicotine--he uses the nicotine ones.

He still smokes (although he has cut back), and he likes that he can "smoke" the e-cigarette in the house. Also, he recently spent a few hours in the hospital ER, and was "smoking" in the treatment room. That kept him from going into withdrawal.

Here's the link where we got his e-cigarette. In the past, if you used the code "RISEUP", you could get a good discount (I think it was 15%). I don't know if that code still works, or you could try "VA1", which the website shows as a discount code.

Good luck to your DH. Quitting is really, really hard...I just wish they had had e-cigarettes when I quit 5+ years ago.

My daughter has quit smoking cigarettes since she has been using an e-cigarette. She didn't think she could quit and had used the patch and tried to quit before with no success. She's asleep now but I'll ask her to tell you about her experience tomorrow. She tried a couple of different brands and read a lot and watched hours of YouTube videos about it. She can tell you which one is good and which are not so good or way too expensive.

She had tried one of the first e-cigarettes that came out but it didn't help her. The new ones are much better.
She checked out one that they sell at the mall and said it was a rip-off, too expensive and not as good as the one she has.
My oldest daughter also quit using it after her sister sent her one and some different flavors.

I think this is a tremendous thing to help people to quit smoking! No more smelling like an ashtray, or cough. No more disturbing others around you with foul smelling smoke. They do have a vapor but there is no smell to most of them. A couple of them I can smell but it's not bad like a cigarette.

My DH has emphysema from years of smoking and even his doctor said the e-cigarette is a good thing.

On a related note... the smoke shop here sells one of the e-cigarettes (not sure what brand). The entire "kit" is about $100, I think, and they can't keep them in stock.

I bought one of those single/disposable e-cigarettes and all I can say is if that thing had been the 1st thing I ever took a puff of....that would have been it for me! I coughed and choked for 5mins! lol

I wish I could find a started kit that doesn't cost so much..maybe the price of a carton of cigarettes. I know long term, it would be cheaper, but I don't spend $80.00-$100.00 at one time on cigarettes.

The problem with the e-cigarette is that, if the reason for smoking is a nicotine addiction, they aren't doing a thing for the addiction.
If smoking is only a habit, then they can help - but if you have an addiction to the drug, then the addict needs drug counseling.

Hi this is Dorothy's daughter. I have quite smoking with electronic cigarettes but it has been a journey. I suggest you go to Nu vapor which is a small forum were you can ask questions and find many reasonably priced vendors on that site who are trustworthy. Another good place to find information is Vaporcast @ http://vaporcast.com/ which is a podcast about digital smoking or "vaping" is what it is called since there is no smoke involved. Vaporcast also has a bunch of useful links. Youtube has hundreds of e cig videos if you want to type a specific one in to see it in action or get a review.

So many people have left cigarettes for vaping but you need to do your research to find the model that is best for you. For instance if you smoke more than a pack a day a small model that looks like a cigarette probably wont do it for you because the battery is to small to last very long unless you are a light smoker. Generally the bigger the battery and the higher the mah of the battery the longer it will last before you need to recharge it.

My breathing has improved since I switched to vaping and there is no smoke to irritate my family. I would suggest getting nicotine because that is the main addicting agent. You can learn how to lower the nicotine level by adding Usp food grade vegetable glycerin on YouTube or the forums. You can order different strengths of nicotine down to 0 nicotine.

I did feel withdrawals when I first switched because I did not order high enough nicotine levels and I believe there are other things in cigarettes you are withdrawing from. Using the electronic cigarette helped me get past those withdrawals. Now i do get nicotine cravings but they are not as bad as the cigarette cravings were meaning I no longer feel homicidal.

There are so many flavors available it is so much better tasting than tobacco but it will be a trial and error for you to find the ones you like. None of the tobacco flavors really taste like tobacco but you can get a sense of the tobacco flavor. I would be happy to answer any questions as I thought I would never give up cigarettes. Glad to hear of the success of the e-cig. I had never heard of them. Wish a couple of my family members could have had them years ago. They are gone now, but it would have been a good thing.

Well, he does, iowagirl... but...okay, now that I think about it, he said he was "doing" the vapor thing instead of smoking weed. Oh, heck, now I don't know what he said. I should have just posted this on the "Who stole my brain" thread! LOL!

I smoked a little over a pack a day and a good choice for me was the "tornado" at totally wicked USA or it is called the "ego" at Janty USA for $80, the price of a carton and the battery lasted several cartons before dying.

Madvapes.com has something that looks very similar on sale now for $50 called the "hello" and the battery should last longer since it has higher mah than the tornado/ego. The tornado lasted between 6-8 hours of constant vaping before needing to be recharged. I had the e cig glued to my lip till I got past the withdrawals and got a higher nicotine level. If you smoke as a pacifier like I do you can eventually upgrade to a mod. The ego/tornado and hello are still pretty small battery's that last much longer than the cigarette size. These are all 510 models and will work with 510 carts or 510 cartomizers. Don't throw away your used up or empty carts or cartomizers because you can refill them with the e-liquid to save some money.

Most people recommend the 510 model as a first e cig because it has more of a throat hit than other models and the flavor is decent. If you find you want more throat hit you can buy a low resistance atomizer that will give a stronger throat hit but you will use up more liquid. You can also buy adapters for most e cigs that will let you try other models carts or cartomizers such as a 510 to kr808 adaptor lets me use the kr808 cartomizers on my 510 battery for only a few dollars. Also, I thought the tobacco flavor that comes with the totally wicked Kit was the nastiest flavor and their juice is way more expensive than other vendors so buy juice elsewhere. I like the madvapes fruit flavors and I originally thought I wouldn't like anything that wasn't tobacco or menthol flavor. Boy was I wrong it is so much more fun to try different flavors. Choose a manual battery over an automatic battery or else you risk having your drag cut off before you are satisfied. Also, if you start to vape more than you smoke like I did your inhaling will get longer cause you can breathe better.

At first i just cut down my cigarettes until I realized how much better vaping tasted, smelled, and left my mouth feeling cleaner. However, from what I see on the e cig forums most people just stop smoking once they try vaping. As long as you get there without wanting to kill yourself like people on Chantix. Hope this helps don't be afraid to ask questions at the e cig forums they have all been there and are really friendly and helpful. There are also throw away cigarette type models for around $10 if you just want to try it but buy some juice too so you can see the difference.

Oh, I forgot to mention that there are also vaporizers made to use tobacco or other "herbal" supplements. Willie is probably talking about vaping weed.
