I like the fabrics a lot too. They're companion fabrics so that's why they go together so well. And if you could see the little log cabin shop in the mountains they came from you'd get why woodsy is also sorta perfect for them. As it is, they'll be a little memory for me.

I'm going out today to see if I can find the perfect tiny buttons to center on the prairie point pulls.

The cutest part of these is the opening/closing mechanism. It's like those slap bracelets that were popular with tweens some years ago -- they're stable straight or curled but they want to be either one. And they make the cutest little "boink" sound when they go from open to closed or vise versa.

I've gotten all the fabric I bought on my shop hopping washed, ironed and folded and I'm settling down to working on some of the patterns I bought. Also waiting for some other patterns to arrive to give that backback with the Texture Magic a whirl.

I love your little bags...you have done a great job on them and sounds like a lota fun to make.

Love your fabrics, thanks for the name of the pattern.

They won't stay open unless you're squeezing them but, fortunately, it's not at all hard to keep them open with one hand while using the other to load things in and out.

Here's the largest of them with a button added for interest and a bit of color.

I've made about a 100 of these bags, here's the directions:

Supplies needed to make 2 bags:
2 fat quarters 18"x22" (many fat quarters are now 18"x21" and that will change the size of your bag)
One 3/4" by 16" metal tape measure
Directions:
Need 2 different fabrics cut to 9" by 18" each (if using a fat quarter 18"x21" cut to 9"x17", you need the 4" to make the tabs)
For tabs cut 4 of lining fabric 4" by 4", fold in half, then make folds for a point, see photo.
Fold purse pieces in half, right sides together, sew sides, half inch seams.
Make diagonal corners on lining and outside piece and stitch.
Turn outer fabric right side out. Tuck lining fabric into outer fabric, wrong sides together, pin.
Fold over top edge to thej outside, 1" and pin.
Fold over top edge again, 1 1/8" and pin.
Take 4" by 4" fabrics and fold to make tabs. Tuck into turned over edge.
Stitch around edge to make casing, leaving open about 1 1/2" for inserting tape measure.
At this point I sew down the one side seam to keep the 2 pieces of tape apart when inserted.
Open your tape measure all the way and using old, crappy scissors cut it away from the case. Cut one end rounded. Hold it up to the bag and see where you need to make the next cut for the length needed. Cut other end rounded. Slide tape into sleeve. Do the same with the other side.
Finish sewing the 1 1/2" opening (the tape folds easily so you can do this), then sew up and down the side seam to keep the tapes from shifting.
Warning: when cutting the tape measure you can get very tiny slivers that are very sharp. Be careful not to get any on the floor. I cut mine while holding it down in a trash bag in a can.

I bought a pattern so I didn't feel good about disclosing someone's proprietary material. But if you knew how to do it without a pattern, no reason you shouldn't share it. ;>

I wouldn't put directions I had to purchase on the web, but I copied a bag (very different than the one I'm making now) that someone else made, then improved on it. I didn't find out til weeks later that there actually is a pattern you can buy. My DD saw it in a quilt shop. I checked out the pattern and it says you can make the bags in 3 different sizes. Might be worth buying to learn how to make them.

Very similar.

I cut the lining fabric longer than the exterior fabric as the pattern specifies. The excess folds over to become the casing and the sides are sewn through exterior, fusible fleece and lining with a single seam that then gets overcast. I also used some fusible interfacing on the longer casing extension.

I don't see that there would be any reason for you to buy a pattern when you've already got it nailed. ;>
