Made this for little man's 8th birthday today

He's 8 today! I wanted to make him a cake but hubby wanted to buy one. I finally decided, late last night, to make a special one for him. Since it's a Wii birthday party, I made a Wii controller cake to go with the theme. Little man is very happy with it.

Thanks:) 'Pink Lipstick' huh? That sounds like that might be it!! If this is the one with dark pink flowers it must be. I'll google it after a bit. Maybe your strawberries would be happier growing with a ground cover like mine are doing? They (and my Iris)seem to love it so I'm letting them! It's also the only place I haven't been ripping out that awful Sedum. Sure it's a nice Sedum with pretty flowers and all, but it just shouldn't be planted in a mixed border/garden :O Thanks Karen, I love my Lavender plants and the ease of caring for them. All they need from me is a pruning a couple times a year; every other year or so a pretty hard one in spring to keep from getting woody centers. Next spring will have to whack the 'Vera' back because they are WAY large again and it was only the year before last they got it really good. They (the 4 plants) are 2 plants planted side by side (abt. 2' on center) and over the years they have basically grown into 2 shrubs. In flower (I just went and measured :)) they are 5.5' wide!

I thought I would check in before leaving for the weekend. Yesterday was a day from hell. I am asking you again for prayers and support for my family. What I am going to tell you is almost impossible to believe. It concerns two of my nephews. One is ninth grade, the other away at college, finishing up his senior year. Last week my brother and his wife received a call from the ninth grader's school, saying that he had suffered an "episode" and recommended taking him to the doctor. To make a long story short, he had gotten extremely stressed out at school (he is always on the honors list) and just cracked. They described it as a manic episode. He is seeing several doctors and has gotten better, went back to school yesterday. When talking to my mother yesterday morning, she said she had started receiving some very bizarre emails from our other nephew, who is away at college. She didn't want to bother my brother, because of everything they had been going through with the younger son. I asked her to forward them to me, and gosh almighty, they were more than bizarre, really out of it, almost suicidal. So I told her I was going to track down my brother and/or his wife at their work and let them know. To make a long story short, this nephew has also suffered some sort of manic breakdown - they tested him and did not find drugs or alcohol in his system and will be committing him to a mental hospital for evaluation. My brother is with him, as my sister-in-law had to stay home with the other son. I was hesitant to post this on a forum, but I believe in prayer and that it can help heal, and my poor brother and his family need it in the worst way. They are just stunned and in shock. They are the last family you would think something like this would happen to. Very stable environment, very supportive of their children. Thank you for letting me share.

Good Morning, No school today because of Good Friday. I slept until 7:30! Very late for me. When I woke up though, I was so confused it took me a minute to figure out what was going on! Maddie, congratulations on the car. I am so happy for you. I know that it is something you have wanted and how great is it to not have a car payment!!!!!! QOD: Candy, anything chocolate. I have to agree with Maddie on just a good old fashioned Hershey Bar, or Hershey kisses. I love to just let them melt in my mouth. OK, I am going to stop talking now. LOL Dee, how are your arms? That is great that you have access to a nurse to come check on you like that. We also had a nice little storm here this week. The snow stuck, but didn't last. It is gone now, but still only about 35 degrees and I know that it will last because it is Lacrosse season and the games are all outside! Suzanne I can't believe that you got so much snow. Is it still on the ground? Raeanne, very cool about the watch. Suzanne how thoughtful. I love to come home and find packages waiting for me. I remember one day the UPS driver came to the door and I must have looked excited until I saw that the package was for DH. I didn't say a word but my expression must have said it all because the driver said "They can't all be for you". LOL Lynn, I am sorry to hear about DH wallet. I also had my bag stolen (a long time ago), but the aggravation and anxiety that goes along with it is terrible. I hope things are ok. QOD: Any thoughts on this weeks American Idol? I love bringing this up, ;-) All I have to say is I was sorry to see another talented singer go and a mediocre one stay. I also need to retract a comment I made before about all of this attention "at the expense of a 17 year old boy". I think that he and his family have embraced it to the point of being obnoxious. Someone needs to guide this boy (and his family) back into reality. He is going to be a joke for a very long time. I got a million errands to do today so I am signing off. Have a great one. Good for you! Dh and I were married on January 1st, 1985. We don't ever go out to eat, and we don't exchange gifts either - it's too close to Christmas for gifts, and waiters in restaurants might well be hung over, LOL. We celebrate together, at home, with no fuss. A nice dinner, a good bottle of wine pleases us both. Of course, after this many years, there are very few material items we either want or need.

Thank you all! He's having fun. We had plans for snow sliding and ice hockey but they are more into the Wii. I don't mind. Save me some energy! LOL

By the way, anyone knows how to make the image smaller when using Photobucket? I sized down the image size but it did nothing to the canvas size. Thanks again!

I've never seen a Wii, let alone a controller but my daughter was just describing hers to me this evening.

I'm not sure about doing it through Photobucket but here's how to size it when you post it. After the img src="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/0903/althetrainer/Wiicake.jpg";

add a space and then size it how you want. This photo is 600 wide by 800 high. To make it about 1/4 the size, 150x200 add width="150" and a space, then height="200" and it'll look like this:

html would be:
img src="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/0903/althetrainer/Wiicake.jpg"; width="150" height="200" with the brackets on either side which I'm sure you know.

To make it about 1/10, width should be 60 and height 80 and you'll get:

html would be:
img src="http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/0903/althetrainer/Wiicake.jpg"; width="60" height="80" with the brackets on either side.

Hope that makes sense.

Thank you, thank you all! Little man did have a great time. The party was small but hey as long as he had Wii games and the Wii cake, he didn't care! LOL

Terri, geez... thought making one was time consuming enough LOL I would never have patience to make all those cookies!

Thanks Annie! He loved the cake. I didn't make a big one because the party turned out to be very small. Regardless the size of the party, he had fun. Here's a picture of him (in the Flames hockey jersey) sticking up his fingers "I am 8!" :-) Al

Awesome cake and I've made more than a few in my time. I'm sure it was MUCH better than a store bought one and certainly more appreciated.

And littleman sure looks like one happy camper. Cute kid!!
