Have you seen jgarner53's kitchen? It is delightful and has jade green as its accent color.

But I don't see why you couldn't use any color(s) your heart desires -- black & white is such a timeless combination and lends itself to just about anything under the sun.

I love this citrus-y chartreuse in that style of kitchen! It would be very nice with your black countertops, and still look great with some cobalt towels. Sort of an update on the old tried-and-true sage green. I hope you will be posting pics...(o:

Why limit yourself to just one color? ;-)

If I had to choose just one, though, it would be some shade of green.

Thank you for all of the advice and pictures! I love J Garner's kitchen too--aside from a few minor details, it's just what I imagined. We picked BM Lilly Pad (green) for our wall color.

My dd did her bathroom in all black & white, gray walls with accents (towels, bottles) of lime green. The combo looks great, I'm sure it would lovely in a kitchen.

Another green fan! We're doing similar color scheme to yours, but painting the walls BM camouflage. It's a pretty soft, beigy-sagy green. We will have a white table and sage green/brown chairs.

We don't have a white kitchen (cabs are a light sage green with sopastone/wood counters) but we have a red oven door and red accents that work really well against the green/creamy yellow walls. Bottom line is that you don't have to limit yourself to just one accent colour.

Another way to add colour and warm it up a bit is to use natural accents like wicker and wood. We did bamboo blinds on the windows and keep huge wooden cutting boards on the counters.

If you're attracted to/appreciate a 1920s "sanitary" klitchen, then you may well be attracted to certain 1920s greens/blues/yellows. Or not!

I'd be careful of red, and to a certain extent, cobalt. With black and white, they can read really 1980s. That's most people's point of reference. But that doesn't mean you have to avoid them! Just be careful how you use them, what shades you use, what you use them for etc.

I'm not a fan of theme colors. For one thing, it's too hard to keep it going. It looks too forced. And when you have to break it, it can make the other things stand out and look bad.

Just find things you and your husband like, don't worry too much about the color. Cookie jars, artwork, table runners, lamps & shades, little rugs, spare mixing bowls or vases lined up on a shelf, etc. You'd be surprised how much color you can bring in with a hamperload of things from other rooms.

You mention paint. Paint is good: It can easily be changed when you want a new look.

B&W&wood is neutral It will look good with anything!
