No plans for weekend :o(

Well, don't fret over the tv. Nothing much on! My opinion only!

I am going to make sausage and rice casserole using some of the wonderful Vidalia onions. And yes Patti they are both huge and very sweet and mild this year. I hope the farm store keeps getting these, I will definitely be buying more.

The temperatures are going downward here in Ohio. Only supposed to be in high 50s tomorrow. I eat soups, chilis, etc year round, but they taste especially good when it gets cold. I had Texas Beans and a salmon patty for my evening meal.

Today was shopping day with Amber and Alyssa. Had breakfast at Bob Evan's had a coupon, buy one get one. We shared with Alyssa. Today was also Norm's birthday. I left the pj top I made him on his bed and a Happy Birthday note. He will probably never say a word about it. I also bought him a small sheet cake with his name on it and have it on the table, he may or may not see it by the time he gets home. Anyway had a good day with my girls and for supper I just had a lunch meat sandwich and drinking on my root beer from Steak and Shake.

The temps dropped during the day. It fell 10C in just a couple of hours this afternoon. Risk of frost overnight.

I made a baked ziti and had some buttermilk that had to be used up before the date next week. So I made some bran muffins as well.

So we've got lots of desserts to eat.....the rhubarb cake, rhubarb pie, stewed rhubarb and now bran mufins! Half the cake is in the freezer now, as will go the bran muffins.

I have 1 cup of buttermilk left in the carton, so I'll have to figure out what I can do with that.

No rain today. It was a busy day as we decided to take tomorrow off so we had to double our work.
For dinner it was a ham steak & twice baked potatoes. Guess I will have to make a cake so I can use the heavy cream for the frosting.
Patti- yes where we live is full of hills, our house is 7 miles straight up from our little town. There is no flat lands here.
Hope you get the tv fixed soon.

Glenda, glad we aren't the only ones with no holiday plans. Sorry, but misery loves company. We used to have so much fun on holidays. WTH happened, I wonder?

Raven, Valdalia's on on my shopping list, too. I may chop a few and freeze. I sure like the sound of your sausage/rice casserole. If you've posted it, I know I copied/pasted it. I'll have to take a look.

Gee whiz, Shirley. Doesn't the midwest know it's almost summer? We eat chili and soups all year round, too. With air conditioning, which we have to have anyway, why not?

Sue, Happy Birthday to Norm. If he doesn't notice the cake or your gift, he's gonna get a Mr. Grumpy award :-) Glad you had a fun day with your daughters and little Alyssa.

Jasdip, tell that cold weather to get out of town!! If you have too many bran muffins you can send them my way. I just love them. With your leftover buttermilk you could make cornbread or ranch dressing or you could pour yourself a glass and crush up some saltine crackers and have a wonderful snack :-)

Mary, wow--you really are up high!! When we used to spend summers in the No. Georgia mountains I was always so happy Hiawassee was in the valley. I have a really bad fear of heights and even driving up a mountain has me grabbing something to hold onto. We had to drive across one mountain to get to Hiawassee and it was a killer. First time we crossed it I screamed about all the way down it. Going up wasn't so bad since I was on the inside!!

Patti, LOL your comments about fear of heights! I am not too crazy about heights either, driving in the Rocky Mountains gave me lots of white knuckles!

DS's birthday today. We had dinner over there, DDIL made pulled pork sandwiches and salad. She did the pulled pork in the slow cooker, came up with her own recipe and it was delicious! But I'm way too young to have a 40 year old son LOL !
