I was listening to the radio enroute home today and the discussion was this affair. They reported that when Maria would leave the house, Arnold would still be in bed, and the maid would then crawl into bed with him. This was before he was governor and Maria quit working to be first lady of California.

He has put $50,000 down on a house for her in Bakersfield, but apparently she has to pay the mortgage payments. This from a man that the papers report is worth $800,000,000!

I heard that when she was working for them she was earning $1,200 a week. Not bad for housekeeping. Her sister also worked for Arnold.

If anyone thinks she was Arnold's "only", they're crazy.

And although I don't subscribe to the thoughts of the OP (that one must be good looking to be used for sex), I find the first response utterly, and perhaps intentionally, out of line.

If someone bought me a house in Bakersfield, I would be very insulted. I was born and raised there and would never, ever live there again. It has the worst air quality of any city in the U.S. and the crime rate is sky high.

There is obviously a lack of knowledge and understanding of why people cheat. No doubt we will soon hear he too is a sex addict. The housekeeper was one of many, I am sure they came in all shapes and sizes. The fact that she is different than Maria is not unusual. We really should be focusing on those hurt, instead of those who were so cruel.

Actually, I have read that he IS a sex addict. As for him being short...everything I've read says he is from 6' to 6'2.

While $1,200 is a lot of money to me to make in a week, I've heard that the cost of living in California is sky high and this may not be much.

I will say though that a similar conversation came up at work about 10 years ago. There was a local man who went to court for wife abuse. He made her sign a contract when they got married saying that he owned everything, including her. The contract even said he owned her body fluids. It was quite disgusting. The woman was very pretty and the man was the one without the good looks. The men at work couldn't figure out why a gorgeous woman would be with a man like that after all she could get anyone she wanted. They could understand why an ugly woman would take him but not a prety woman, that somehow ugly men deserve that. Many women at work pointed out that being pretty doesn't guarantee that a person has the confidence, dignity etc to not get hooked up with someone like that.

This kind of reminds me of when Prince Charles had an affair with Camille and so many people couldn't understand why he prefered Camille to Diana since Diana was so much younger and prettier. But looks aren't everything.

Remember the affair started at least 14 or 15 years ago when she was in her mid 30's.

happyladi, Charles was dating Camilla loooooooooooong before Diana came into the picture. She was married, and even had she divorced, his mother would not allow him to marry her. Camilla chose Diana to be his wife thinking she was young and niave and wouldn't say a word about the affair. Little did Charles or Camilla know how wrong they were about Diana.

Well, somebody had to respond to it (no, I am not always 'scroll on by,' 'if you don't have something nice to say' person) -- and it looks like there are a lot more intelligent people who realize that this woman's looks are absolutely not the issue. That's something people gossip over. I thought this board was different than that.

But hey, if someone wants to pass judgment on this woman's looks as a measure of anything, then doesn't the world have the right to pass judgment right back?

Go to Google Images and put in her last name. You'll get photos of her that are recent as well as from years ago when she was what many would consider to be very attractive. Not everyone ages well, but beauty is only skin deep, eh?

Arnold is 5' 10" at the very most, on a good day when he's just gotten out of bed. Measure him again at the end of the day (everyone shrinks in height during the day) and he won't even be that tall.

And, yes, I know he's no taller than that because my husband is 5' 10" and hubs had to stand almost next to Arnold several times. (Hubs and I both work for the State of California.)

Thank you Lindsey CA, I have to admit to lazyness on not going on line to find out Arnolds height. I stood very close to him, years ago in MPLS and I was 5'5" then, (I too have shrunk) and he just wasn't that much taller than I was, and his being so overly muscle -bound made him look wide, not tall.

I am a natural dark brown haired person, with very dark brown eyes and almost olive skin. My husband is almost 50% Native. Again, black hair, brown eyes, not too dark skin, but I think we're about the same. Our youngest was born with white hair, pale skin and blue eyes. It drove me crazy when people accused me of having an affair. They weren't in bed with me when i got pregnant. And genes go farther back than the parents.

It doesn't take attractiveness, or good looks to be with someone. Sometimes its just the way another person makes you feel about yourself.

Enjoyingspring didn't say anything that many people haven't thought. What her comment has to do with intelligence is beyond me. It was snarky, but who cares? These aren't friends, they are public persona (especially now). And as far as Maria's looks go, I have always found her frighteningly skeletal looking. There were times I saw her face on tv and actually was taken aback my how much she looked like a skeleton. I don't find her attractive in the least. Perhaps Arnold wanted someone with a little more junk in the trunk? I am not excusing his piggish, disgusting behavior just suggesting a possible scenario.

I agree with everything that sleeperblues said! What I find uncalled for is the follow up posts of people blasting her/him. This exact thing is what has pretty much turned me away from posting very much at all anymore at all forums. People are just plain old rude these days. I guess maybe you poeple have some ax to grind that I'm not aware of?

I think men have affairs with someone who 'complete their package' or fulfill a desire. Bill Clinton had affairs with a lot of women. Some were attractive, but most that have become recoginized were not. Monica was 'fun.' Some of the others were more 'risky' and maybe fulfilled a sense of adventure. Maybe for Arnold, he had the 'good and beautiful' wife at home in Maria. The maid was an adventure.

Maria has become too thin, but I liked the way she looked when she was younger and her face was a lot fuller.

Interesting how most people have this image that "the other woman" must be some kind of sexpot supermodel. Seldom is that the case. Just goes to prove, that we overemphasize the importance of appearance. If women put a quarter of the amount of energy and expense into their personality, character and kindness that they did into their appearance, what might happen?

I don't think Patrick has changed his name to Shriver. He was using Shriver when he was Tweeting right after the news came out, but I think that was just to show his support of his mom.
