I had a slight debacle, if there can be such a thing, after bringing my wrapped tubers into the basement to warm up/eye up. I had lost about 20 total in the winter, but all of a sudden they started molding like crazy- rot soon followed or was already happening internally and I had to throw out about 150, maybe more. That's about 15%, so still not bad. Could have been better though! It was quite disheartening to lose some varieties entirely, but I have enough to keep me entertained. My lesson learned: unwrap if you store in saran and bring them into a warm environment! The very few I stored in vermiculite in a bin were a bit dry, a couple died. I'm still a Saran fan for space saving. Jroot, you should see me whipping out masterful paper pot liners thanks to your photo lesson last year! Still not an artist, but I learned enough to make them fairly neat LOL! I am wondering where Bernie is hiding? I've been admonished for posting such an inquiry in a thread title, so I'm sneaking it in here :P Anybody heard word on him?

Hello Everyone... Thank you guys for the great compliments...The trees are outside now...i've had them outside for about 2 weeks now. Really was tired of moving them outside only to bring them in again..( 5 times...ARGGGG) I was to anxious to get them going..then the problem with the greenhouse really set me back.. The damage isnt really that bad..I did have to remove a few tips...and some other tips have already hardened up..so i'm positive that they will branch out from there... I think that i probably missed out on at least 3 inflos...but the good news is that they are all showing signs of leafing out... The weather here is finally stayeing pretty consistant..i have been watering alot lately and will start with the fish emulsion and seaweed and fert tomorrow... The cuttings are all looking great with some leaf activity already... Jen..yes that cutting has the egg in the container... I had to try this method to see what will happen. I have two cuttings from the same mother tree...one im rooting with the egg and the other has the same mix like i have always used. I will post what has happened with the different methods.....i feel like i have a science experiment happening in the cutting department..LOL ANdrew really swears by this method..so i wanted to try it out as well.. Holly-Kay, I agree (though in my case it might be iced tea). After my mom passed, I took my dad to the veteran's cemetery to see the marker in place. Remains there are placed in the order recieved and my dad waited until they were on the side of the columbarium facing a pond and then calculated the days expected to be able to place her in front of it and between two trees. And that's exactly what he got for her (and later him). As we were there remembering her, a great white heron was standing at the water's edge. It let us watch a while, changed locations a couple of times and then took off and flew around and over the pond. I felt my mother was acknowledging our presence and letting us know she was free and at peace (she had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's 11-12 years earlier and had a broken hip and horrible GI infection at the end). Now I remember her when I see one linger when I approach or fly overhead. That's as close as I'm going to get while I'm still here. I'll take it. Patty Vinson -- I haven't seen a lightening bug is so many years. I used to have them in my backyard of the house I lived in before DH and I were married -- so I guess that would be about 25 years. I miss them, and I like your list. :)

Laura, I was wondering that! I was wondering if it would make a HUGE difference on my electric bill. You are so encouraging...Think I will. They could use the britness for sure. Funny thing is that when they go out, even in the middle of the day, it still gets very dark and din in there even with 3 south facing windows..So many shadows of darkness during the brightest part of the day, let alone on a cloudy snowy day. I even added more light today. I'll show you all. Brian, haha, way to funny! You know, and here they said that the 'El Nina' was suppose to give us a warmer than usual winter. Well, if this jet stream decides to dip, it will and it's takes the Arctic Air with it, even if it's 70 just the day before. Literally, all my perennials and trees froze with their leaves and flowers still attached.lol Brian too funny, you can have that bar stool.. We all do and I really attribute that to a good set of folks here that want to help each other...We have all played a huge role in bringing our trees to great health and happiness..Thanks to all.
