Should I take the plunge and become a REA?

The REA who sold us our house in FL thinks I've got what it takes to take over her niche when she retires soon (boaters - mainly sailboats, trawlers, big boats, waterfront in a handful of neighborhoods only). I'm nervous about it because I don't even have a license (yet) and would prefer to spend some time under her mentorship before being cut loose with her referrals that she's offering me (I move back there by the end of August, by which time she hopes to be cruising the Caribbean).

I've always been interested in the field but never had a desire to become a full-time general residential agent. Could this be the perfect small business opportunity for me to supplement my retirement pay?

I promise I won't do any of those obnoxious REA stunts that I read about on this forum! I'll put prices on infobox flyers, won't use open houses to lure clients (don't plan on doing ANY open houses, not my clientele), or tell buyers they can have wicker shelving that belongs to the sellers!
