They do this one every year; these are last year's pictures so don't bother voting, they've already chosen the winner out of this batch. They'll be taking submissions for the 2008 contest until July 4th. Yes, some of them are really wonderful couches with fabulous "bones" that are just in need of reupholstering! There's a very nice Mission couch (#02) that simply has some unfortunate upholstery on the cushions, and quite a few Empire and Victorian-period ones that would be really lovely with new fabrics, but a great many of them are just your basic, classic couches. Although I wanna know how anyone's supposed to sit on #85, perch on the very edge I guess... and that white and brown leather semicircular jobbie looks like it belongs in some futuristic movie. David Bowie's "The Man Who Fell To Earth" or something. iasheff, when the alternative is sitting on the floor, it's pretty easy to forgive a hideous couch! We had any number of awful couches in my various college/early-adulthood apartments - we just threw some blankets/sheets over them (we couldn't afford slipcovers) and worried about higher priorities like not failing the physics midterm and who was buying the beer this week. ;-) BTW, the absolute BEST dumpster diving, IME, is outside the dorms at an affluent college or university during finals week. I was always shocked at what these kids simply threw away because they couldn't be bothered to haul it home - after all, Mumsy and Daddy would buy them all new stuff for the beginning of the next year. Oy. The last year I was in Boston, had I had a pickup truck to transport the goods, like brand new furniture, I could have made out like a bandit... unfortunately, you can't fit too much in a shopping cart!

Hi Ruth, I just dug up your pomegranate tree, cured the yam and got your box together, could you send me your address so I can get it to you. Sorry about the delay, I got a community garden plot and had to work quickly to keep it. One of the master gardeners tried to take it back right after I got by putting vinegar on my seed trays, covering my plants with mulch, stealing my weeding tools, and then proceeding to plant his own stuff over my space. It was a hot mess, I haven't been online as I have really been wanting a community garden space, and I wasn't giving up without a fight. My tool had my name written on it so someone noted that and returned it to me, they noticed my plants were covered in mulch and called him in to talk about community garden etiquette. Hoping the garden is mine now and I can enjoy gardening in soil as much as containers. Anyway you box is ready; if you have any questions about how to grow anything I did enclose a few tips on some of the more unusual plants. Message me please

Hello Girls Yes it was on my porch after 6 last night. My package from Margo got me ready for fall. It had Bath and body works wallflowers holder with a caramel pumpkin swirl scent. French lavender and honey shower gel,. A beautiful blue butterfly canvas picture,solar dancing butterfly, insect repelling band{always use these} sour watermelon worms 2 cute bug rocks { I want to make these} poached egg seeds fleabane seeds dwarf toadflax seeds Mixed columbine seeds Margo I love all items Thank you for another great month in this friendly group.

Well, it was a toss up between Jennifer and Melissa..but I think Melissa's could be used in some remote place :), so my vote goes to Jennifer...it truly is the most hideous fabric I've ever seen! lol.

I vote for cannahavanna's. Fatquarters is part of a line of very pretty prints that came out a few years ago. My daughter has a whole bedroom group that has some of that fabric in it. It came from Penney's and cost a lot.Pat

My vote is for #8 Jill....strange fabric patterns you have!

A close second is Marti & fat quarters...although they might look OK as a stack-n-whack. Same goes for Jill's fabric, but can't imagine that she'd have enough to work with.

Hmm, tough choice.
Although Rebecca's is impressively hideous I have to vote for Jennifer's face-crinkling-downright-ewwwww/blech entry. That fabric designer should be sought out and slapped. I'd throw it out before it contaminated my stash if I were you.

Jill and Marti, all of yours remind me of fabrics from the 70's. A very strange time pattern-wise. Too many drugs afloat.

The rest could have some practical use, especially Fatquarter's roses.

Hope we do this again, it's fun!

Not voting, but I'm actually trying to see if I can use mine - it was picked out for me by a friend who saw it at a garage sale. I even pulled some fabrics that complemented it but now I'm wondering if I want to send perfectly good fabrics after bad - hmmm... it may end up on the back of a wallhanging. I'm thinking, reading through most of the posts, that most of these were NOT fabrics we picked out - they wandered into our stashes when we weren't looking.

I say Jen's is the ugliest followed by Biwackos.Sorry gals.

Fatquarters,i like yours,i made a table runner and placemats for my sister from that,and i used the same line of fabrics in the blues for my dining room window toppers.

Most of them used as a whole piece,may be a bit much,but cut up into smaller pieces as part of a quilt could be the exact piece(color) your quilt needs.JMO

I think I am going with fatquarters. The colors pink and mint green together have always bothered me for some reason, LOL!

Ha ha, Cziga! She knows first hand how ugly my fabric is. She is now the proud owner of my ugliest fabric!

I found some more ugly fabric the other day. It is Michael Miller's fairy frost line. I have a black from that line with gold glitter "frost". It came in a fat quarter pack. I did use it in a test block and it was blinding me the whole time. Then I threw the test block away.

Rebecca: Well, as you so very graciously passed it along to me, I had to give you my vote :)

And the bloody hand prints are certainly something else . . . it just happens to go so perfectly well with another fabric that I *have* to use in my project so there you go!
