Yay!! Ordered my faucet & sink- but which soap dispenser??

I am SOOOOOOO excited. Just ordered sink (Ticor S305) and faucet (Hansgrohe Talis S pull-out from Home & Stone)!!! Major progress, very satisfying!

BUT: I don't find a Hansgrohe Talis soap dispenser anywhere... what do people match with it? It has the thin, rod-style handle, and I got it in chrome.

Hi. I just put a bid in on ebay for the Talis S high ark pull out from Home and Stone. Can I ask you what you paid? I also put in a bid for the pot filler. Included in my bid was the Hansgrohe soap dispenser 40418800. I got it because although it doesn't match the Talis faucet, I wanted it to match with the steel optik shine. There is a very similar soap dispenser made by KWC that matches the Talis. I'll try to post a link to the picture.

Ouch that soap dispenser is pricey!!

I ordered the Talis pull-out, which was listed for 315. I paid 275 on best offer... BUT I just noticed that in my notes from last week, the price was 229 to start!! So obviously they raised the prices. Wish I had noticed that before I made my offer, as I would have offered less! Bummer :( Still, my faucet budget was 250 so I didn't do toooo badly.

There was a Talis high arc on eBay last week for only 69, but it ended. I think that H&S's was about 317 in steel optik last week, if I am reading my notes right.

I got mine at Faucet Depot. I priced them, made a list of what I wanted and then called. I asked the their best price on the phone, not just for the sink but for each grid, colander, faucet and soap dispenser, then asked if they would take any more off if I purchased all of it from them, and they did. They were just awesome. I paid about 1200.00 I think for all of it, including the sink, all grids, colander, Brizo Floriano faucet and soap dispenser, as well as a few other misc. items. It arrived quickly with no damage and I was very happy with the entire transaction. I would definitely only go credit card these days with anyone, though, due to the economy. You never know who might go under. I keep all the accessories in place all the time. That is just because of my own personal habits. I put most items in the DW and rarely if ever fill the sink to wash. I stack dishes on the grids and water runs freely without blocking the drain. I place bowls, etc. on the grid to do prep and it makes them a comfortable height for working, but peels, etc go through the grid and get washed into the GD. If I need a deeper area, I remove the grid on one side. If I need to wash something really large, I remove both. I use the colander all the time. Small items get placed on it so they don't go down the GD, I use it as a silverware tray, I drain pasta and rinse veggies there, small ones esp. like strawberries, blueberries and other items that would fall between the sink grids. I had a difficult remodel and a place for the washed shot glass I used for the strawberry daiquiri on more than one occasion! :) I have a large cutting board on the counter next to the sink so I didn't need that, but they do have one. Ridiculously expensive. Worse, even than the grids. If your habits are such that you would need somewhere to store the items I would plan for that. All except the bottom grid would fit in a divided cabinet like I have for cookie sheets. You could also use a dish pan, but I was a little worried about giving up my double sink, and I liked the fact that they make an insert that would make it into a double if I really hated not having two sinks later. But then again, I am a girl that likes options. :) I have no problem making a decision if I know I can change my mind later. :) Sue

Thanks, everyone. Now can anyone recommend a place to buy a chrome soap dispenser? (modern looking). A quick google search led to an acceptable one for .....65 dollars!!! Why are these so expensive?? Mustbnuts, color suggestions for backsplash please? I am thinking light gray or a zen green. Helou, yes, KA Dishdrawer. It is properly installed (and pushed back) now. And we have been using it up a storm. I like it for the convenience. MY dh finds that it doesn't have much room - we keep things separate because we keep kosher, so we have to load the meat dishes in one, the dairy dishes in the other. That is the reason we bought it. But if you can have more fleixiblity, you will definitely have enough room to put large loads. ONe caveat: It is EXTREMELY difficult to install. Our plumber couldn't do it, the first installation team for ABT couldnt do it, we had to get the elite custom kitchen team from ABT to come out. I would only recommend buying it IF you have an installer who has installed it before! thanks for all the help, people. Actually, there are many design principles which prefer odd numbers. Three is fine! I'm not big on soap dispensers. I hardly ever used mine in the old kitchen and didn't put one in the new (I like the bottle), but I think in the middle would both look funny and be really inconvenient. It should look fine paired with one of the faucets. Ideally, for looks, I'd like to see it with the smaller faucet. Put the larger faucet on the center line (the diagonal from the opposite corner like Buehl's). Pair the other two, and have them equidistance from the center line on their corner. And I'd put the soap in front of (which is also on the outside of) the faucet it's with to make a low, medium, high progression. It would look fine paired similarly with the bigger faucet if that's a lot more convenient. You just wouldn't get the nice rising levels. The tension from low across to medium and back over for high might actually be more interesting to look at, in the end. Not to worry. Just make sure the controller of the faucet isn't too close to the soap so that it isn't a pain to use. You could also, if the plumbing allowed, put the big faucet in the forward position and pair it with the subsidiary faucet and just put the soap on the other side. That might look really cool, though it might not be very convenient.

I have 2 sinks, both with grohe dispensers and never mt systems. BUT - they both clog up. I can't figure out if it's the dispenser itself or the never mt system, and I'm thinking about going back to the original soap containers that came with the dispensers, if I can: 1. remember what they look like; 2. can find them; and 3. can figure out how they work. Does anyone have Grohe dispensers? Are the bottles plastic or metal? What do the tops look like? (I've tried the Grohe website, but haven't found much useful information. )

Congrats Staceyneil!! I was so happy when I finally ordered my sink and faucets too! One less thing to worry about!

Did you ask the folks at Home & Stone what they recommended to go with the faucet? Do you have a local plumbing store where you can go look at their displays to see what they paired your faucet with for a soap dispenser? What did they pair it with on the Hansgrohe site? Sometimes on plumbing websites when you click on a particular faucet they will pop up smaller pictures recommending items to go with the one you are viewing.

I got the Hansgrohe soap dispenser, brushed, and it is sitting--never been used-- in a drawer. I replaced it with a Kohler one. The spout was so short that it did not reach over the granite and to the sink. I would have been squirting soap onto my counter all the time. I know someone must have messed up somewhere. Anyway, I am happy with the Kohler which has a longer spout. Also, the Kohler spout is metal while the Hansgrohe is plastic--for all that money!

Thanks all- great info on the Kohler vs. HG dispenser, fin1, thank you. I had a Kohler at my old house and it was great. I think I will just wait till my faucet arrives and then go to some stores and see what matches best! (and is less money. I still say $100 for a soap dispenser is outrageous!)
