I am RIPPED -- need your opinion on how to handle it.

I Shop Hopped a quilt shop about 75 miles from home and bought 12 or so half yards of beautiful batiks. The ladies offered to cut my fabrics while I continued to look around, so I didn't realize until I got home, that rather than cut my fabric, they RIPPED it.

Forgive me if this practice is "normal" elsewhere, I REALLY do not like it. Many of my pieces are a mess. They look traumatized, threads hanging and curly deformed edges on every one. One piece is so totally katty-whampus, I'm not sure what to do with it. Another one is 4 inches wider on one end.

It honestly made me sad to see my beautiful batiks look beaten up. So, how common is this practice? Is this a regional thing? Should I complain and what do you think I should tell them?

Thanks for your opinions.
