Am I getting ripped off? Can I do it myself?

I live in a 3800 sq-ft house in Dallas, TX. The house was built in 1987 and I need to replace one of the original units and I am considering replacing all 3 units completely (3 ton condenser, coils, & furnace). I do not need to replace the lines running from the condenser to the coils. My ductwork is disentigrating so I would like to replace that as well with R-8 flex duct.

For the complete package, I have gotten 2 quotes in the 20k range. I have seen complete Rheem units (furnace + coils + compressor) on the internet for 2,500$. I have checked out duct supplies at Loews and I am estimating that the cost of the materials is $2,500*3 + an additional 2,500 for ducting, transitions, plenums, etc. Am I underestimating these costs? Is the mark-up for labor and profit $10k? This seems excessive.

On another note. If I decide to install the duct system myself to save money is it very difficult? How long should it take an untrained person to install the duct system.

Thank you all in advance.
