Use For Election Yard Signs
Comments (5)I like recycling, too. When the grandchildren had outgrown the big ugly rebounder we've kept in the garden for them and we could finally get rid of it we found it hopeless to take apart the frame. So we put it around our new round trial rose bed in the same size. We will keep it there over the winter to deter deer a little, hopefully. In spring we will bury it in the ground to make an edging, or at least a mark of where the bed ends to remind us to cut the edge and stop weeds and grass from creeping in. When the roses have grown a little we'll plant a low red barberry hedge around the bed outside this ring frame....See MoreWhy does broken glass appear in my yard?
Comments (7)I have the reason it shows up in my yard! When I was having the ponds dug we came upon a dump in my yard.People use to bury it all.I had to pay $1500 in dump fees to get rid of it. Unfortunately pieces of glass are still under ground and just like rocks up north keep coming to the top. After a rain is when I notice it alot!below is some crap we unearthed You could actually HEAR glass crunching beneath your feet!...See MorePutting a sign in yard 'Selling Soon! Comments (30)@Hollysprings- good point. I guess, to me, the wording choices seemed condescending and not contributory to an open discussion. We've actually had both a realtor and an appraiser out. They both came up with the same figure, which was actually a little higher than what I was expecting, so that was nice! However, I'm completely aware that this doesn't mean that it will sell for that.....or that the buyer's appraiser will come up with the same value. We called several realtors up and told them that we were going to attempt FSBO for a few months and would like to see if anyone wanted to help us out with pricing. I got a few calls back, and we finally picked a very successful local realtor. She came out and looked at the house, gave me FSBO advice and sent me my market value when she had it ready. She thought we wouldn't have any problem selling it. If, of course, we can't sell it, we'll be calling her up to employ her services. I don't feel like she was artificially inflating the price just so I would use her (or fail at FSBO). She's one of Dave Ramsey's ELPs, so she has a reputation to protect. And when the appraiser came back with the same figure, I felt confident with the amount. (One was not aware of the other.) I also really enjoy following the local market and take extra notice of what's selling and what's not. I am a little worried about having the sign in the yard too long. But I'm a little worried about LOTS of things! :) I guess I feel like, if we fail, we can just stay put for a few more months and then list it with our realtor. Hopefully by then, there will be a new set of buyers who won't remember our first attempt. And, we're not putting it on the MLS for our FSBO, so it won't show up with a ton of DOM. BUT, I hope even more, we'll sell it quickly and won't have to worry about this scenario!...See Moreselling: no sign in the yard?
Comments (30)"The area I live (Oak Park, IL) doesn't allow signs at all. I've always thought this was a crummy practice and (no offense to those of you out there) probably thought up by a realtor." Are any of the following Trustees Realtors? Should be easy for you to find out. (From this Realtor, their rationale does not make sense where I live, but maybe where you live) Trustees- Bode, Klem, Marshall, Philbin, Sokol and Fallon and President McClure Oak Park, IL. Village Code 13-2-3: REAL ESTATE FOR RENT AND FOR SALE SIGNS PROHIBITED: The President and Board of Trustees find as follows: A. That a prohibition of "For Sale" and "Sold" signs has been recommended by the Commission on Community Relations on the basis that said signs tend to encourage unfair housing practices and tend to defeat the purposes of the Village's Human Rights Program. B. That a prohibition of "For Rent" signs has been recommended by the Commission on Community Relations for the following reasons: 1. "For Rent" signs presently are used more frequently in areas that have a greater percentage of occupancy of minority residents. "For Rent" signs are seldom used in connection with buildings that have no minority occupants. The use of these signs therefore tends to "signal" that minorities may be more welcome in some areas of the Village than others and this tends to segregate areas contrary to the policy of the Village to maintain an integrated community. 2. A proliferation of "For Rent" signs encourages panic peddling and block busting. 3. "For Rent" signs may give an appearance of community instability when concentrated in a limited geographic area. 4. A proliferation of "For Rent" signs may infer that an area is less desirable than other areas. 5. A system of apartment management that refers tenants to the source of rentals will encourage greater professionalism in apartment management. It shall, therefore, be unlawful for any person to construct, place, maintain or install a "For Sale", "Sold" or "For Rent" sign on any property developed for residential use in the Village. The term "For Sale" sign shall include signs carrying the following or similar words: "Open House" or "Open for Inspection" and shall include any other devices placed on the property to indicate that the property is for sale. In the case of new construction of residential property or conversion of an existing structure to condominium use where a condominium declaration is recorded, a "For Sale" sign shall be permitted on the property until the property or condominium units are sold, but not to exceed one and a half (1 1/2) years after issuance of a certificate of occupancy for a new building or from the date the "For Sale" sign is posted in the case of a conversion.
