I like options 1 or 2. I think 3 is too traditional and the others just are more interesting. I love the idea of the stainless pendants and I think the green finish could work with them if you decide not to be all matchy-matchy. I can't wait to see your finished room!

Love love love that 2nd chandi, it's different and has character. #1 would be my second choice and I agree with cyn about the others. Love the finish choices too but I having a hard time visualizing either the antique green or earth finishes with the Brushed Stainless because the antiquing offers a very different look and aged look where the stainless doesn't. I think the pendants would look better with the chandi as well as the white cabinetry in the finish you have it pictured in. As a Navy brat daughter of a man who almosted turned our house into a ship, I have to say, I love the nautical look of the lighting. It's different and absolutely beautiful.

#1 or #2.

#2 looks a bit too "nautical" at first glance but it would be a great accent focal for an eclectic home. Are you trying for a nautical or beach theme? If not can that decorative anchor be removed? Is it going to be hard to 'dust' the rope or will that not matter to you?

I don't really care for the common looking chain on #1 and would rather see a pipe instead for the wiring. This one also have a nautical element with the steering wheel but it is not so obvious and could look like it is just some sort of gear.

It is OK to mix metal finishes even though they can be see from other rooms. I like you choices for the foyer and hall. It all looks like it will come together nicely.

Ever think of just skipping a chandelier in the dining room? Will it be used for home work or stuff like that?
I would omit a hanging fixture there...just go with the ones over the island....and get some wonderful tall candle sticks for dining and go with either lamps on the buffet or sconces.
And....if that doesn't work out after a year....you can always add a hanging fixture....just note well where the junction box is.

Oh for gads sake do a chandy girlfriend. Your taste is so fabulous you MUST do one! (I am of the school of a chandy over a table or I'd move to a different house LOL). And I am not sure how you can go through life any longer if you don't own number two. It's beyond fabulous.

I like the mixed formats much more than a big kit. Especially given your taste. (Which is unique and I adore it! This from the girl with a chicken in her formal dining room chandelier LOL)

You know, I've thought about this for about 32 seconds and decided that I can't be your friend anymore if you don't go with number two....sorry, I know to some it might not be worth killing a relationship as long as ours...(about 33 seconds right?) but still, it's important.

And if you don't get it I'm going to go find a house that chandy fits in and buy it just to have a place for it. It's devine. Unexpected, fabulous and all that jazz! I can't WAIT to see your house!!!

Cyn, I agree itÂs between 1 or 2 and 3 is out! IÂm really leaning on keeping the kitchen all Stainless looking and doing the dining room light in the antiqued green. I just love that finish. I will post pics once the house is done.

I was considering a Fox or Cargo light for the foyer but then again I want light coming through the sides other than just straight down. Our foyer is 8x10 and this would be our only source of light. Dilly_dally, yes IÂm going for the nautical beachy look for our coastal cottage. IÂm not doing it throughout the house. I wanted the dining chandelier to be something different, special and fun. After looking at all kinds of lighting for over 6 months now, it all starts looking the same. This lighting line is very rustic and fun to me. My hubby agrees with you about the chain. He would prefer a down rod and heÂs not too excited about that anchor or the ships wheel on #1, LOL. IÂll have to ask if it can be removed. I sure hope it all comes together as you say because these lights are not cheap!

Linda, Thanks for the idea of no chande but we have to have something covering the hole. As you can see from the picture of our room the ceiling is tongue and groove and the wood is already cut (and painted white) so there it no going back now.

Yes, #2, not just for looks, but because it sends the light down toward the table. This is an aspect that is often overlooked when choosing DR fixtures. The emotional effect of a well-lit table is huge...we are naturally inclined to draw together toward the firelight, which leads to a kind of attachment over meals that is subtle but quite real.

My pet peeve in restaurants is failure to create a glow in the center of every table. The ambient light can be kept low, but when the tables are properly lit, each one is its own campfire, the food looks appetizing, and people lean into the light, and focus on the meal and each other. And I think we ought to do the same in our dining rooms. In an open plan, if every light source is separated and dimmable, we can manipulate the spaces any way we want, for any kind of activity.

I love all the samples, every one of them and see your delima, but not sure really which would work best as a light source under those conditions. Boy I sure do wish I could be more help!

Sherwhy, not to add to your dilemma, but I was wondering if you actually purchased the Parker Place pendants yet. I only ask bc we had ordered the same ones (in brushed steel) and found out that they had discontinued them. It was the source of much drama for us! Anyway, apparently, they still carry the smallest version of that pendant, but the small pendant doesn't have a glass diffuser; so, you see the naked bulb. We have these temporarily hanging in our kitchen. And they also carry the Parker Pendant in the larger sizes in ORB. Anyway, good luck with your lights. We agonized over them a lot.

No. Too matchy-matchy. The beauty and uniqueness of the chandy will be lost if placed with nearby identical matching pendants.

Remember, once the rooms are done there are going to be furnishings to bring it all together. You can't just go by how all the fixtures look hanging around together in an empty house with white walls. With furnishings in place, some of the fixtures will recede into the overall scheme and some will pop with style.

I'm in agreement on the pendants...don't get the matched ones. One of the reason that chandy is so fabulous and will be in your house is that it appears to be a one of type of thing. It flows well with the pendants and will help deleniate the dining area from the kitchen nicely.

I'm so glad we can be friends now...cuz honey you got some great freaking lighting taste. As to that one for the foyer you didn't get....have you considered a divorce????

igloochic, I am envious! I have always wanted a spot for the bat light (Rejuvenation Hardware, yes?), as Halloween is special to me (my birthday), and a little gothic touch is always welcome.

Bronwynsmon- IÂve been looking for a light fixture where the light went up because DH didnÂt want to look up at the light when sitting down. I agree with everything you are saying and I knew there was a reason why I was more attracted to the down light fixtures. I know what you mean and have been frustrated when restaurants donÂt light the tables well.

Lukkiirish- I know right? I love those cargo lights!! I totally forgot to post the name of the manufacturer of the lights IÂm showing in my pictures. ItÂs Lustrarte and they are out of Portugal. IÂm getting them through Ferguson so the prices are much better than online.

Hi, I haven't read through all of your responses, but I just wanted to say that I purchased the exact same Parker Place pendant, and I ended up going with the 5 light (or was it 6 light, I can't remember, they aren't installed yet) chandelier and also a matching flush mount ceiling fixture from the same collection. BTW, our appliances are stainless and our faucet is brushed nickel, too. Cabinet knobs will be brushed nickel. I hope it doesn't turn out too "matchy". I will let you know...
