Comments (16)i am having the devil of time tryng to find paint to tone down the paint on these walls that have a yellow tint--- the trim is covered wagon---a brown with pinkish tint--not my choice--but previous owners... trying to find a neutral tan that is not too dark/light is very hard--macadamia is too green and softly tan has that tint too... I have splotched up different walls in adjoining rooms to see more reaction to different levels of light--it is too hard even had decorator come out today to help choose paint but she went to the tans with more grey than I/we like...and se kept going to a part of the wall I had painted with color that was too light... probably wasted my money on that... maybe going to use SW Kilim beige and knock it down a little...anyone use that shade with darker trim......See MoreAnything in Valspar like SW Blonde?
Comments (12)Sometimes SW isn't even exact. After buy 20 tester quarts I decided to use Blonde for my kitchen and some other area. My granite has a lot of rusts in it and I liked that Blonde read a little rusty/gold. I had the painter use Cashmere and the result was not like I tested. The formula on the Cashmere was totally different and when I called them they said it was because of the different base. I even took some of the paint from my samle quart and put it next to the cashmere out of the gallon and they were different. Paint guy said it was a "better" color as it was more subtle. Only problem was it wasn't what I had thought I was getting. Even asked Funcolors about it and she said it was probably just the way they explained it at SW. The red they add for Cashmere is maroon and for the cheaper paint is called new red. Still a nice color but???...See Morehelp with SW Blonde paint
Comments (15)I have Blonde in my 3rd (spare) bedroom and Ivore in my 2 story front hallway. I have had both paints for about 3 years and both have faded/lighted slightly since we painted, so I would give it time. At first I didn't like the Blonde either, but now I totally love it. It also didn't take that long for it to lighten a bit. Once you get towels and accessories in there it will make a world of difference. IMO, going with darker towels like the eggplant and cranberry will make the Blonde brighter. In my spare bedroom (the one with the Blonde color) I had a sage comforter and ivory silk flowers and it was a very mellow room. I recently changed it to a very bright comforter (Pottery Barn Nora, which has a white background with bright red and orange flowers) and red silk flowers and I couldn't believe the difference - it looked like we had repainted again! So if you're looking to tone it down, go with the sage towels. I also love the Ivore in our front hall. Not a HUGE difference from the Blonde, but just enough. We get a ton of compliments on our color choices. The Ivore is a much creamier color than the Blonde. If after a while you still don't like the brightness of the Blonde, but still like the general color, you can repaint but have a new gallon of Blonde tinted 25% or 50% lighter. I did that with another color in my house and it turned out perfect. If you want to have Ivore in your bedroom and Blonde (or a shade of it) in the bathroom, the transition will be great. I personally wouldn't get red and green bedding for the bedroom if you are going with a lighter color (ie. light green towels) for the bath. I like it when the master bedroom/bath have similar color schemes. I am sorry I don't have a pictures to post as we are leaving for vacation later today. If you are still undecided I can take some next week when we get back. :)...See MoreWhat color pic frames with SW Blonde?
Comments (12)Love the idea of gilding -- check out Rub n Buff as well as they have colored tints along with the standard silver/gold/bronze. Given the windows, light colors etc don't shy away from a colored frame if it works with what's *in* the frames. A deeper sage, midtone olive, or medium greyed green, a slate-y or "spa" blue, or a medium-to-darker grey could help balance out the lightness of the wall and sofa colors with the darker wood pieces. [I have a close color to Blonde in a hall and my office but I'm not much help as I have a lot of black/dark tones nearby or in the room. Black, dark reddish brown, and orange frames work for me.]...See Morecustomdecorator
