Do you match or coordinate your art?
Comments (22)I think you can have it both ways. I definitely think there are some pieces of art that will not work with a room's decor. And it's kind of like it's "not fair" to the art, because it is not shown to it's best advantage. I think if you look - and it may take some time - you will find something you truly love that also works with your decor. I don't see anything wrong with that. As our colors have changed over the years, there have been some pieces of art that we have not used at times. I have a beautiful Robert Tino (local artist) that is now hanging in my work office. It would totally clash with our rooms now. There are some pieces we have that have been rotated to different rooms or are not in use at this time. Not so much because we tend to use different kinds of "art" on our walls that just paintings. tina...See MoreSW Kilim Beige and ????
Comments (14)Hi treasuretheday! We decided on Kilim Beige as well for our entire house. However I am going with Alabaster (white, but not a bright white) for our ceiling and trim. Personally, I love the way beige and taupes look with white ceilings and trim. All the colors on the Kilim Beige strip are great. We originally thought we'd go with Nomadic Desert on the same strip, but it had a pink undertone in my space and I was afraid it was too dark. So definitely paint large swatches in your space and look at it in different lights. Your painter can always make Kilim Beige darker as well. We liked a certain color for our exterior and wanted something slightly darker for an accent color. So the painter made it 25% darker, not sure what he mixed it with, but it looks nice. As far as what color to paint everything...check out this pic: [mediterranean bathroom design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/mediterranean-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2109) by austin architect Vanguard Studio Inc. Again, this is personal preference, but I think I would do the soffit the same color as the walls. Then the columns either the same color as the walls or the same color as the trim. I'd consider doing the trim/crown in Alabaster (I think this would look nice since your windows are white)and the ceiling in Divine White. Then the medallion either Alabaster or something to match the light fixture. What finish will your light fixtures be, especially the one hanging from the medallion? What color will your light switches and outlets be? What color are your cabinets? Check out www.houzz.com, that is where I found the above picture. Just type whatever you're looking for in the search box. You can save ideabooks as well, one of my all time fave websites. For me, it is always helpful to find inspiration pictures. Comments (2)What is the undertone of your beige? BM Natural Wicker, BM Muslin, BM Shaker Beige. If you want something a little less beige (warm) but still neutral look at BM Manchester Tan. BM Feather Down is a lighter version of the Manchester....See MoreI need paint help! Give me your best beige!
Comments (65)@violetcooks I am so glad you found a color that makes you happy and works with the lighting and other colors in your home. I asked a few months ago how you felt about Natural Linen because I was in a situation where I had to pick a color for someone else's home and I couldn't go into the space to test colors. (They were moving into an assisted living apartment.) All I had was flooring, cabinet and countertop samples and knew the trim color. In this case the Flooring was a weathered wood LVP that had some browns and some grays and the grays had that touch of purple. I struggled between Canvas Tan and Natural Linen, but next to the flooring the Canvas Tan pulled green. We went with Natural Linen and it worked out perfectly. The owner is thrilled and tells everyone what a perfect neutral I picked. I was holding my breath the entire time they were waiting to see the finished apartment and move in. Thank you for sharing your insights and keeping us up to date over the past 2 years....See Morefnmroberts
