I like them, lezard. I wished I'd seen them before buying the lights that we got.

I couldn't find any A&C style lights that I liked - and really should've waited to find some because they would've fit well in my kitchen.

I started out with the shaker/mission style cabinets, and didn't really plan a themed kitchen - but kind of ended up that way after picking the glass door to the patio and the cabinet pulls (which are definitely mission/A&C style). I ended up getting some swirly design lights, and although they are very pretty - they really don't "go" as well as the ones you're showing us. WAH!

Guess I'll live with them for awhile and see if I get used to them. If not, at least you've shown me an option to consider if I end up wanting to change them out.

Have you look at the crown point cabinets website. I actually had them make a quote for me. I couldn't afford them :(

Our kitchen was designed with an A&C motif in mind. This is the light that's hanging over our kitchen table. (Ignore the wall color; we are about to paint. That green is what was under the wallpaper that we stripped.) We got it from lampsplus.com; I've gotten at least four lights/lamps from them and I've been quite satisfied.

I LOVE that period of design too. Lately I've been drawn to the early A&C when there were still traces of Victorian in evidence, and later, when some Deco influences were showing. The Prarie subset of A&C can come off as a little austere, and I like a more colorful, richly textured and detailed space.

thebrightspot.com is an excellent source for lighting of this sort, and have excellent prices and service.

I'll have 3 of the pendants over the island, 2 over the sink. Frankly, I might have used ones like yours in the sink area if I'd seen them first. I'm worried that a total of 9 of those shades might be too much of a good thing. Ceiling is beadboard with beams. I love each of the elements, but I may be going a little over the top...

Using emtek for all the doors, haven't chosen cab hardware yet.

check out the discussion boards affiliated with american bungalow magazine's website. there are a lot of really knowledgeable people who participate there and they were super-helpful for me during the remodel of my 1919 chicago bungalow.

I, too, started out designing our kitchen around an A&C tile. Since then I have backed away slightly (still will use that tile from Motawi) but am finding A/C can skew to a more heavier austere look than I want so am now thinking we will use touches of the look. it can, certainly, with all the dark wood and squared-off corners, but the key is to balance that stuff out with some softness. fabrics, particularly linen with embrodery, are often used to accomplish this, along with stenciling and/or wallpaper with more natural designs.

I feel SO stupid. In my response I said crafthome.com had affordable lighting. Wrong! I was reading the cost of shipping and handling! I feel so stupid!!

Actually, some of their stuff is pretty reasonable. Some isn't...

We're doing a Greene & Greene style house and our architect has specified a number of fixtures from Brass Light Gallery. Not inexpensive, but very high quality, and they will sell direct. Hubbarton Forge (www.vtforge.com) has a few fixtures that might work, although most of their stuff is a little too severe for my taste.

I am on the Craftsman end of A&C, and found these gorgeous light fixtures from Cherry Tree that echo the stained wood trim of my home. The quality is great! I have three of their lamps. Cherry Tree also makes some lovely transitional lighting in the mission vein. If you find a model you like, google the web for the best price.
