2 inch inside.

Same problem - 2" outside -mount above the moulding w/ spacers and cover with a fabric valance. The blinds need space / depth to operate properly.

Remember that 2" blinds are twice as heavy as 1" blinds.

The PO had 2" wooden blinds in the bedroom -- about 70" wide -- and they were too heavy for me me to pull up.

I have faux woods blinds and they are so heavy I have to kind of help push them as I pull on the cord. I broke the cord on the last pair.

Thanks to all for your feedback. GK and RiverGirl, I'll go with the 2". Probably an inside mount because I anticipate they'll stay mostly fixed.

Mclarke, the 31" blinds ought not be too heavy -- 70" would be another story indeed! And brutuses, I know the faux wood blinds are heavy because I have one set. Ugh.

I have found the faux wood blinds to be heavier than real wood blinds.

I'll be darn and I would have thought they would be lighter. Good to know.

One inch reminds me of the miniblind look. 2 inch is definately more stylish:)

I purchased some very nice blinds from a local houston company called Visual Design Blinds. I would for sure recommend doing the 2" faux blinds. If this width is over 65" then you might want to think about doing a 2 on 1 headrail. They also carry shades, arches, and shutters, and alot more.

I installed 2" white painted faux in our sunroom & 2 bathrooms - similiar to your sizes - Since we have an old home w/lovely moldings I opted for inside mount - because the trim has graduated detail it took some doing to have them properly hang/operate and clear all the trim - Glad I had professionals do that
