Inside mount or Outside mount wood blinds

Hi all,

I'm new to the group and have really enjoyed reading the Q&A here. I hope your input will help me decide what to do with my windows.

In my old house we had inside mounted cellular shades and I loved how they looked - flush with the wall. Very clean looking. I want to put 2" wood horizonal blinds in my new house, but I'm not sure if they'll look too big.

The window sills are 4 1/2" deep, but the depth on the sides and upper window is only 1 3/8" deep (where the hardware will be installed). If I did an inside mount, would the blinds look too big if they stick out into the room further than the walls?

Another option is to use 1" wood blinds, but some of the windows are quite big and I am afraid that the blinds will look too small. What would you do?

Outside mount is another option, but if I get them wide enough to cover the entire window, they will stick out about 1/2" beyond the window sill. I think it would make me nuts! Again, do you think it would look too big?
