Small kitchen window...Inside or outside mount?
Comments (13)I prefer inside mounts, especially if the window frame is attractive. If your window were taller I'd recommend it, but I think Annie may be on to something. A stacked shade is going to take up a foot or so of space and that might make your window look even smaller. Since you don't have any crown above the window the expanse of space above the window tends to stand out. I would keep the width of the shade just big enough to cover the frame ... not take it all the way to the cabinets....See MoreInside and outside mount blinds in adjacent rooms?
Comments (4)To answer your question regarding mixing window treatments..Yes, absolutely you can mix curtain styles and unify the look with using same fabric or shape. Is this your home? I might suggest painting the window molding white to not attract so much attention to all the windows. I think an attractive solution to the quarter round windows is to mount an upholstered valance/lambrequin on the top portion of window giving the window shape a overall rectangle appearance. It is a DIY project that is relatively simple. You could choose a bold stripe or print and drapery panels in a coordinating solid for your other windows. I like the color of the ones pictured. I think your drapery rod height is fine. It is really a cute place. Good luck....See MoreInside vs outside mount plantation shutters
Comments (11)Your shutter company gave good advice. With tilt in windows, it's best to do an outside mount even if you don't tilt them in often. Outside mount is the proper way to install shutters with this style window. Most windows in our region have tilt in windows so almost 90% of the shutters we install are outside mount and they look really nice with the right frame. Most people don't think twice about it once they're up and installed....See MoreBlinds inside or outside mount
