Window treatments for a box bay window in master bedroom?
Comments (5)I used a board-mounted box pleated valance on the box bay in my dining room. I screwed the board right into the soffit above the window. The way mine was framed, there wasn't enough room to hang a rod high enough to cover the top of the window trim. I made long panels of the same fabric for my living room windows. I used honeycomb shades on all the windows (not room darkening, but I did consider them). Most of the time I leave them up, but we don't have a guest room and the sleep sofa is in the living room, so privacy is an issue when we have overnight guests. Totally Confused...See MoreSuggestions for window treatments in Master Bedroom
Comments (11)Thanks for the helpful replies! Starnold, thanks for your lovely compliment, and I like the idea of a small chest next to the chair-I hadn't thought of that! I've been looking at rods, and I'm thinking of a bronze color to match the rest of the hardware in the house. I'd like find some back-tab linen drapes--I like the simple classic look and they always seem to hang nicely. Tibbrix-I like your idea on the placement/width, that's close to what I was thinking. My only concern with the look of the full length draperies is the top of the window being uncovered--for some reason that bothers me! To me, it looks a little naked and unfinished. So, here's my second question: I've considered a simple matching upholstered cornice board to cover the top of the window frame, with the drapes hung behind it. With this set up I wouldn't need a decorative rod, and could use simple clip on rings on a hidden rod. Is a cornice board too dated? Thanks again--I'm hoping to get your opinions on the upholstered cornice. Diana...See MoreNow I need help with window treatment for master bedroom
Comments (8)One of the 5 windows in my office has its right drape panel a bit behind a secretary desk in here. It doesn't bother me, but you may feel otherwise. My roller shades block the sun and gives me total privacy if I choose to close them at night. My shades cover the full glass part of my windows, but not the outside trim. My windows are standard double hung, and yours appear to be sliding windows. If you do get shades, no matter what material type, and close them at night (just an assumption on my part) wouldn't you need to raise them in order to open the window if you choose to? Would that bug you at all? I may be prejudiced toward drapes, as I make them myself and love fabrics, so change them more often than others might. Here is a pic that I found online with a window similar to yours that may help you decide....See MoreMaster Bedroom- Please Help choose bedding & window treatments!
Comments (21)Cobalt blue is a gorgeous color but the walls +the gray headboard + the tan matchstick shades + multiple shades of blue doesnt equal a cohesive sum. Since the wall paint is fresh and pretty and since you like the grey headboard, consider sticking with fewer colors repeated in more elements and then add just one shade of blue as your proverbial pop? The photos that deco added are so pretty partly because they stick closely to plan....See Moredilly_dally
