Definitely post a few pix. I remember someone else on here was getting a pink effect on her counters and lots of folks were suggesting different color tiles and or paint to help out. THis is a very helpful bunch so post some pix and let the color gifted individuals come forth.

Here are a few pictures. What color backsplash might tone down the yellow/green of the counters? Or are there any other suggestions?

BTW, we are still missing the cabinets by the hood, and the appliances are still being installed. The original cabinets were mismatched, and had to be reordered.

I'm thinking the light bulbs or a low-e coating on the windows or both because your cherry looks a little funny, too.

I would try some different bulbs out first - like one each of a warm white, reveal, etc. with a utility light or lamp.

I'm a little late on this input, but I'm wondering if in real life there is more contrast between your beadboard and window trim. Because in the pics it seems like your window trim gets lost. You don't like the green idea, but with the red tones in your cabinets it would be complementary. A red backsplash with your granite would be nice, but probably too dark with your cabs. A mid tone gold or brown/tan or coppery color may work, though golds could be tricky with your counter. If you can find one to pull from your granite, it would need to be overall darker than the granite and then all the elements would pull together and the white trim would pop.

My suggestion (got this from a decorating show and it works) is to go to a paint display and grab as many samples in the colors that appeal to you, don't over-think it. Once you are at your house start putting chips against the granite. Don't spend much time deciding, just yes-no. Then with the yes pile, do the same with the cabinets. If there will be any paint near flooring or other elements, do the same process with the yes colors and don't go back to your discard pile. You may have a clear winner at this point or several to pick from that will work. If not, go back and tweak your color selection with more chips, either darker, lighter, more brown, less pink, etc. and you will get to the right color.

I didn't see this before, but I also think the lighting looks funky and would try different bulbs as a starting point. The only photo that seems to be close to color balance and clarity on my monitor is the one with the guy inthe green billed cap standing in it. The others all look hazy and yellowish on everything -- paint, cabinets, granite.

It's an interesting condundrum... assuming these were shot with a digital, I wonder why the auto white didn't cancel the obvious green. If shot with a film camera, using daylight film under incan bulbs would give pretty much this effect.

The windows seem to still have their factory film, but that doesn't seem like enough to explain this...

To me, the 'antique white' walls is reading green, too. I concur that this is probably realated to your light bulbs-- the precise color of the 'antique white' is resonating with the spectrum of the bulbs, giving everything a nice greenish glow. Easy test of this theory: does everything still read green with all the lights off?

You might try putting up some very cold white paper on the walls [scotch tape and printer paper?] and seeing if that had any effect. But it could just as easily be that the ceiling is the problem...

If it were my kitchen, I'd try some different bulbs, such as daylight balanced cfs.
