What about costa esmeralda? Is that too light? Can you post a picture of your other selections so we might be able to help more? Do you have a photo of the typhoon green?

I'm so sorry! The same thing happened to me with the first granite I fell in love with, but I found one I liked even better after looking at every stone yard in the county and one 100 miles away. Maybe that will happen for you. I did find that looking at the actual stone that was available was more effective than trying to find a certain name. Even within a name, they vary so much.

Where are you? My fabricator might be able to get more green Typhoon Green. (He has it now, but it's all sold.) I'm in upstate NY.

Seafoam Green is green. Is Jungle Green too dark green, not sagey enough?

There's also a hard limestone called Jerusalem Stone that comes in Pistachio, which is a lovely sage green. It has fossils in it - so cool. It's softer than granite - more like marble - and it requires more care than granite, but it's very pretty.

I had this happen to me. Started searching on google with the granite name and calling all of the suppliers within a reasonable distance. Took a while but it worked for me. Good luck!

I'm really sorry. I know it is tough to even think of a different material once you have your heart set on one. I don't know what Typhoon green looks like, but we installed seafoam green. It is pretty light and I'd call it a sagey-green. It does seem to vary some from slab to slab. Here is a picture.

Keep looking. We had given up on seafoam green (couldn't find slabs we liked) and were considering other green granites. At about the 15th granite yard, we found what we were looking for. You never know what someone might have unless you ask. And you may find what you are looking for by looking around the yards. Granites don't always carry the same name.

Maybe Costa Esmerelda might work. Some of the slabs we saw were more green than green/blue. We saw some Minsk green that was nice, but it has a much larger granulation of the material than what you have been looking at.

Sorry to hear about your granite. I originally loved Costa Esmerelda but price and general family peace (nobody else liked it) caused me to move on to other choices. I did look at a LOT of greens before moving to my blue.

Costa did vary in color from yard to yard. Some were almost a grey-green others a true light green and others a richer green. The marbling effect is why many of us like it.

Other similar ones include New Costa Esmerelda, Costa Rosa and I believe, Spring Green. Midnight Ocean was a darker green with some small rose hues. If you find my old thread "torn between two granites" I have posted pix of Midnight Ocean. Verde Candeis also is a medium green but reads darker because of the gray-black swirls mixed in.

Hopefully you will find a new granite you really like!

I went to closest Granite yard today and nothing captures my heart. I love the Costa Esmerelda and Seafoam! I will definitely ask the fabricator about those two. She sent me pictures of Bamboo green & Surf Green.

I will share my other finishes we have selected. We are continuing our Brazilian Hardwood floors throughout the kitchen. Then we got new Diamond Relfection Henderson Base cabinets in the painted black finish. And we are repurposing our upper cabinets and they are being painted a light moss green color. It just has a slight hint of green. And I got glass knobs and pulls in antique coke bottle green from DLawless Hardware. And my pendants are a light creamy onyx. We aren't sure on backsplash yet, so when my husband gets home from his deployment we can tackle that together after the kitchen is put back!! Thank you all for the great ideas!!

have you ever thought of/seen madre perola? it can look green and grey sometimes - very pretty.

Try Coast Green, Emerald Green, Silver Sea green, Verde Tunas, Tropical Green. We looked at the "madre perola" (not sure if the spelling is correct) and it was very nice, but the slabs were already taken and we found the seafoam we were looking for shortly thereafter.

I used a Brazilian granite called Jungle Green. It's really sage green with brown (dark copper), some clear quartz and a couple of white veins in it. It looks almost like marble in some places and like a river bed in others. I love it. I have a copper tile backsplash that goes really well with it.

Have you seen Ocean Green, that is one of my favorites. But it might be a quieter stone than you are looking for. This one is mamadadapaige's which is honed.

Hi, JNH004, A couple of further ideas.

You probably know to hit all of the stone yards in your town yourself. From another post I read, I'm thinking you are in Georgia. Ask your local yards if they have a larger outpost in Atlanta. If you were to go to Atlanta and pick slabs from their bigger yards, could your selection be shipped along with their regular shipment? It seems like that could work.

There are probably also other yards in Atlanta that you don't have, but then the shipping could be prohibitive. They'd probably know if you called first.

Finally, there are some lovely green soapstones, not sure if that is of interest to you.

We made a few design changes and were very hesitant because they were in a different direction than planned, but once we got past the newness of the changed idea, they were the right path for us. Sometimes, you can be stuck on an idea and resist something better because it is less familiar to you after all the planning and visualizing the original plan.

Thank you all for your help!! We decided to go with the Bamboo green granite! It was in our budget.. (which I am quite surprised about because it is so exotic) and the color scheme is still exactly what I was going for!

colorfast - we are in GA and this stone is actually coming from one of the ATL yards. The good thing is they will ship it down here and if I don't love it as much, they will ship it back! A trip to Atlanta is the last thing I want to do right now by myself with my two babies.. doesn't sound like much fun even if there is a beautiful piece of stone waiting for me to fall in love with it and bring it home! :-)

dianalo - you said it just right! I based all my decisions with the vision of the first slab, so nothing I saw looked right. But I let go of that because I had no choice and started looking with "different eyes" persay! And now I am more in love than before!!!

SOO EXCITED!! Now to finish the last bit of demo and have the floors installed so we can get the pretty stuff moved in!! Thanks again for all of the suggestions and help!

One more question, (I won't call it my last because I don't think in this kitchen reno it will be my last) but we plan to tile a backsplash, just not right now. So what are your guys' suggestions on the 4 in granite backsplash? Should we get it or not and just wait to tile? Thank you Thank you!

I never in a million years expected to be PERSONALLY attacked on a kitchen forum. My husband and I have worked hard to save up just enough money to do this kitchen. I am not a princess. I am a wife to a soldier that remains on a constant deployment and leaves his children all the time to serve our country. In another country you might not have the opportunity to come on a forum made to help people with their kitchens and personally attack someone.
