Would this look Stupid? (Pics)

Hi everyone. In the next few weeks I am going to re-do my formal living room and paint my adjoining dining room both BM Anjou Pear from their Aura Paint Collection.

My question is the ceiling are higher in the LV and I am thinking of putting up new panels on rings that sit next to the sides of the window like in the dining room, so they will be either 108" or longer.

Will that look stupid if they are not as high in the dining room? Thanks!!

Dining room, yes I know it's orange. I always wanted an orange room, well 18 months later I'm over it! These panels are hung on an 20" rod on each side of the window.

I am planning on purchasing white slipcovers that Squirrel gave me a link to 1 year ago for the wingchairs, probably doing similiar color panels in the LV and getting a 4x6 rug with reds for under the coffee table.

I don't see that being a problem - the rooms are distinct and clearly separated.

I know you are over it, but I do love the DR wall color.

LOL .. ya Bonnie he will show up .. he is that stupid :o) He isnt looking at a few months in custody he is looking at maybe 5 - 7 years + +. I have yet to hear for the fool .. but its only a matter of time cuz he doesnt even have any clean underwear .. yuck. I got my new kid on the 5th. So far he isnt any problem at all. But he isnt in school yet so the expectations are pretty minimal. Tomorrow I am going to start tightening the screws :o) We are going to go the Humane Society in the morning (7:30 am) to volunteer. He needs to be doing something so why not work on his 40 community hours that he will need to graduate. I would have to say that the other foster parents in our program are a bit jelouse as my kids are hand picked just for me :o) My old social worker deals with all of the kids in the group homes so she knows me well and what type of kid would do well here. It works out great for me as they are usually an excellent fit so we have little issues :o) This kid is pretty explosive (so they tell me) but I have yet to see any behaviours .. you have to love the honeymoon period :o) He really likes all of the animals in our home which is a plus as the pets tend to defuse alot of the emotions a kid feels. NHB: The nerve of that woman. I cannot believe it! My kids have done a few garage sales too and it's amazing how many people like to take advantage of kids. I had people trying to make all kinds of deals with my kids and I finally had to tell a few people that they had priced things to sell (like 25 cents or $1 per item). It's why I mostly donate stuff to charity or resell myself on CL. Yesterday, I had arranged for a charity to pick up some stuff on my curb. They said to put out at 7AM with a tag on it which I did and by the time they arrived, my stuff was all taken. DH said probably they needed it, but still I felt like the stuff was stolen as it was not put out with a "free" sign on it, but a tag for a cancer charity and I felt just terrible when the truck arrived and my stuff was all gone. :( Stinkers!

Personally, if I were selling, I'd leave the original lights and do nothing else. We can't leave the original lights. They were centered over sinks that are no longer in the same location, so we have to do something with the box. You won't sell the house just by adding the lamp fixtures so leave it alone and spend the money where it will make a difference. In my professional opinion (realtor), I disagree. I've seen people respond very emotionally to light fixtures. The light fixtures catch your eye faster than anything else in a vacant bathroom. It's precisely that "bling" factor that sets a builder's beige house apart from a custom remodel. I love your vanities, but not crazy about the white cabinet. Is that photoshoped in or does it really exist? It's really there, but the white is photoshopped (poorly). The trim and cabinet will be painted cream, and the vanities are meant to look collected/gathered over time. I could have had my carpenter build standard vanities, but then there would be nothing special about the bathroom. Do you have a seperate vanity area on the other side of the room to apply makeup and do your hair, and is there any other lighting in the room? No seperate vanity. There is a water closet, shower, and garden tub on the other side of the room. The only lighting is 2 can lights over the tub, a large window over the tub, and a large skylight. However, the paint is a deep camel, and it can get pretty dark in there. Thanks for the suggestions/feedback. It confirms what I thought about the excess lights looking funny!

Thanks, all. The slab in the picture is the slab I was told I could have - I don't know exactly where it is now, but was told they'll be getting it in within the next 2-3 weeks. Obviously it's not there yet so I can't touch it, etc., but the other soapstone slabs they showed me were definitely soapstone. It didn't occur to me that they would have washed the slab for the pic, but I bet that's probably right, I'll ask about that when I email them next week. I guess I was just a little paranoid because the first guy who helped me was really condescending and tried to immediately steer me to granite when none of the few soapstone slabs they had in stock were what I wanted. I was also surprised that they told me it would be extremely hard to find exactly what I want - dark gray/black soapstone that was pretty uniform in appearance, without much veining. It seems like every kitchen I see with soapstone has that kind of counter!

Another comment on the orange...LOVE IT!
Can you share the color?

I had an orange room in my old house and I miss it terribly! It was actually the RL denim paint treatment on the bottom, separated by cream chair rail, with orange on the top. It was my son's room. I miss it!

I don't think that would look stupid at all. Lovely home and I think the anjou pear in both rooms will be very nice. If you have access to material from the new curtains, why not make a table runner to match.

No problem, it's BM Myan Gold. If you use it on their color viewer it's not nearly as orange.

Yes I can sew and made the panels in both rooms, but haven't quite found any fabric that I have fallen in love with to do the living room. It would probably look best? if I got the same fabric I have for the dining room, but I kind of wanted something different that still flowed.

It better not look stupid because that's what I'm going to have to do lol. I've got the same thing with a taller living room.

Your orange is beautiful but Anjou Pear is a gorgeous color, too. I'd do diffent fabrics on the windows. Just find something (color, scale) that ties the patterns together. I love looking at those planning boards with samples of fabrics that flow together. Stripes, checks, florals etc.

Ok, I've kinda changed my mind now. I love red, but already have the red panels in my dining room and then have red ones in the family room too.

I am thinking of doing the fabric below (gold and green) in the living room, birch colored wingback slipcovers and then accent pillows.

Would this look Stupid? (Pics)
