No, she is not expecting. Not even getting married until September. LOL he and her fiancee' have been fixing up a house, and buying furniture as they go. She thought the hutch would look good in the upstairs bedroom (AKA nursery).

My Craigs is pathetic. Right now all the out of town college kids are heading home so they are selling their junk and then the antique dealers, who are dreaming, are selling their stuff for thousands. There's nothing decent that I need, to chose from.

My CL....heck, I might as well be shopping on Rodeo Drive....or at least that's who the Sellers think they are selling to, Rodeo Drive shoppers.

Plywood put together with 2" x 4"s, left out in the elements for years, called "Storage Garage Shelving" and looks like the termites will have it on the ground within days.

oceanna - Great idea! I have only sold one thing on CL. Took two postings, and about two weeks. Perhaps I should give it another try. The question is what to sell! LOL

oceanna and flyleft - No, I do not drive a truck, it's a Toyota Sequoia SUV. It's come in quite handy, even though it cost an arm and a leg to fill it up. I'd like to downsize to something more economical, but I would have to give up that "truck like" space.

Just to set everyone straight, the hutch is not old. It is a two piece 90's table and hutch set. The seller tagged it "Beautiful walnut and green, two piece country hutch - $75 Excellent condition." Of course the wood is a stained walnut colored wood, not the real thing. However, it's a sturdy piece. My daughter will eventually paint it. I actually have pieces of the like in my upstairs family room (a coffee table and sofa table.) I think I paid around $150 per piece when we bought it several years ago.

The set is also larger than it looks in the owner photo. I will try to set it up and take a garage photo.

Believe me. we have also been getting the college kids and the "Rodeo drive" listings. It's rare when something in between comes along. I am getting really tired of seeing the Office Depot, pressed-wood desk, used sofa's and bistro sets being listed from college students. It's one thing if they had bargain prices, but they are asking what they probably bought the things for at last years garage sales!

I just got 3 heavy cobalt blue wall planters and also a rustic large redwood potting hutch off CL. I was on vacation 2 weeks ago and had the time to go check things out mid-week. One end of town for the planters, and the other direction for the hutch. But my patio is now really coming together.

CL is just like garage and estate sales. Sometimes you find people's old cheap furniture. Particle board and frumpy cushions. Laminate and cheap chairs. Sometimes the seller thinks they own treasure. Just saw a pretty coffee table in one ad for $350. They said it was in good shape with only one scratch on it. they said they paid $470 for it. Well, one thing's for sure, they won't get over $75 for something that was $470 brand new. If I want to pay $350, I probably want to use my debit card or my Visa anyway. But just like with garage/estate sales, if you keep looking, stay patient, keep an open mind, and POUNCE when you see something, there will be something eventually.

Congratulations on your find! I could use a potting hutch. I'll tell you that if my daughter doesn't pay me for this hutch, I'll use it myself...maybe as a garden/potting hutch.

Not too bad for $75! Has a large working drawer and plate racks.
