Need help with coffee table shape/size
Comments (11)I love all the unique ideas! Pushing the ottomans together won't work for me as one of them almost always has my husband's feet attached to it. I do occasionally use one as a table, using the black tray that is on the wicker toybox in the photo. When all the family gets together, the ottomans become extra seating. The rug was from Pottery Barn. By the time I made up my mind about it, it was discontinued, so I got it new on Ebay. It takes me so long to make a decision that I ususally find the trend is over and the items I like no longer in stock!...See MoreShow me your coffee table and how it's accessorized.
Comments (65)Hi pps - It is the small RH industrial table. I've had my eye on it for awhile but DH said he'd make one for me (he's great at welding). He's always busy with house projects though and I happened to see this while shopping at the outlets so it came home with me. I lucked out - less than half price after their 20% sale and no damage at all! I like the size of the side table but don't want matching pieces so I'm still looking for one of those. anna - love the "tail of death" phrase!...See MoreCoffee table - I have 24 hrs. to decide if this one is right
Comments (28)Well, I did not keep it. It just didn't feel right in the room to me. I think one of the problems was the height of the table. At 20", I think it was just too tall. When I measure to the very top of the sofa cushion, I get almost 19.5". BUT, the height where the welting is along the edge of the cushion measures at only 18". The sofa, altho it's been reupholstered, is at least 25 years old, so I guess it's a little shorter than a newer sofa. I know there have to be coffee tables that are shorter than 20" out there somewhere. I have been looking on CL, but many times there I come up with coffee table that are much shorter than 20". Many are only 16" tall. The original table is also 20" tall and I've always felt I made a mistake on the height of that table. I'm now searching the internet again for a different style table. Perhaps a wood table, but with no lower shelf to hide the rug. There's a table I've always liked and so far, I've been unsuccessful in finding anything like it in my on line search. It's black, oval with some gold accent painting on it. The top has a raised edge and kind of looks like a tray, but this table is all one piece. The legs look a little like bamboo and there's an x-shaped stretcher bar across the bottom between the 4 legs. Does that sound familiar to anyone? I know it's a table that's been around for awhile and we actually had one not too long ago in the consignment shop where I volunteer, but I wasn't looking for a table then. Darn! Back to searching....See MoreSmall house, big challenges! Need Help with Family Room!
Comments (16)You guys are great!! Thank you so much! We are going to play with the arrangement this weekend and see how it affects the egress in the room. I have a feeling that the couch against the windows is going to interfere with the natural walkways of that room. But, that being said, I just have to see it to rule it out because I really like the idea of the large sofa on that longer wall. I have already purchased a solid blue drapery panel for that window but a pattern might actually be a great idea and add a little something extra to the room. Rebecca, that rug is from the Magnolia collection and it is by Loloi rugs. Thank you, it was actually the first thing I bought for that room. My last several houses have all been in the darker words and darker red‘s, browns and when I saw this house, I knew I wanted to go with something a little bit different hence the blues and the grays. I was also thinking about doing a dark blue on the chairs but then wanted the dark blue on the window treatments and didn’t think I would want to put a dark blue chair against a dark blue window treatment. I hope that makes sense. So my thought was maybe going with more of a natural linen color on the chairs and then adding a pattern or solid blue pillow. Thank you all so much for the feedback and food for thought. I really love all of your suggestions and it really helps to try to see the room in a different way, through someone else’s eyes. ....See Morethreedgrad
