I usually buy used, and it's a great market. I used to end up with Half.com quite often, as their pricing was good, and never had a bit of trouble. Amazon is usually a good source, too, and easy since I'm a frequent customer, but again, like ebay, there are 'kids' or crooks who get on there and don't describe their books accurately, think they look like new when they have coffee spilled on them, or they never arrive ... I have had to file a few disputes with Amazon but it was hassle-free. Unfortunately there is a limit to the number of disputes they'll cover though. Understandable, but risky should you run out. Most of the sellers are selling great stuff and doing a good job. Some stupid packaging, though. I had a new book come through wrapped in paper, with all the corners knocked in. Aggravating. I love my books!

fripper, I really hadn't done anything when I took those pics of it in my porch, other than to wipe off dust with a damp paper towel. Those pics of it inside the porch were taken at dusk, which probably makes a difference in the way the color appears. I have since put a bit of Butcher's wax on the top surface of the lower part, and that is all I'll do to the whole thing. That patina just comes with its age. I'm actually growing used to it in the porch, and I like it with the wallpaper in there. It may stay there for a little while. I THINK I may have captured some of the wavy glass in this pic. If you look at the left pane of glass, it's reflecting my garage trim outside. See how the off-white appears distorted? IRL, the clapboards do too, but I just can't capture it , being a very novice photographer. There are a few tiny bubbles in the glass, too.

Nicole, good for you for finding a way to make the chairs work for now, they are great chairs in such good shape. Are you sure, though, that you only need 4 yards of fabric each? I ask because I used 7 yards on my little chair. However, a fair piece of that was used to make the welting (although I made way more than I needed!). I used CL fabric on my chair, but when I was looking for the dining chair fabric I was floored at the prices. That is why I'm using a table cloth to cover the one I'm presently working on! ;) Trancegemini, I am now kicking myself for not taking photos of the reconstruction of the chairs! Yesterday I started to rebuild the wooden chair shown above, and I started from scratch with it! I added all new webbing, replaced the springs and hand tied them, new burlap and now all new padding. I have tear-down photos of both chairs, but got so involved with putting things back together that I didn't think to record that process! Next time for sure. Double welting is the decorative trim used to cover raw ends, and I see from the link I just found that I can still use this on my pink chair looking at the way it is made, but I would have to purchase a special foot for my machine. Oh my gosh, johnmari! I didn't realize that you meant this exact one. My friend and the hubby at the house put in in the trailer for me, as I could never have done it. It's darn heavy, and SO beautifully made. The furniture movers who brought it in for me took my other one out quite easily, as they know their stuff, but this one was even heavy for them. I've enjoyed reading on the H&M website how all this is made, and those nail heads went in one by one...It's an investment piece for me, and am so happy how at home it looks in my LR. I can't sit on it without at least 2 dogs being on it with me, and I am amazed that they haven't scratched it. Leather is great! Tracey, I did my kitchen in a similar color to what you saw in the LR. It's Ben Moore Crimson, #1299, and I LOVE it. It's really NOT 'crimson' as I think of it, but a terra cotta color. You may want to check that out also, but the Baked Terra Cotta sounds more like what you are looking for. Great plan to do it while hubby is away!
