LOL Pam!! I totally missed that-must be slipping!! Its a tweety poster so I guess this ends the debate of is tweeety a boy or girl!! The pics of the room are now on the MLS listing-Ed thinks the room is perfect-his words LOL!! BTW...Amy had some friends over last night and they were mulling over doing her new room in the same way. I said I would ask here since you all have way more experience than I do....She wants to use the same green but I am worried doing this color on an entire wall may be too much saturation. Especially since this is such a trendy color which will grow tiresome over time. I'd really like her to express herself in her own way but I can still nudge her in the right direction. Cheers! Susie

I tried the bed with two side tables at an angle, but it didn't really work. Something about the distance between the large window and wall, and the width of the bed just didn't work. I could never get the angle to where it felt comfortable to look at. It also left a huge gap in the triangular area between the headboard and walls. It caused the trunk to be just a few feet from the entrance and the pathway from the entrance into the bathroom seemed cramped and awkward. So, it will have to be near where it is now. But I'm intrigued with the suggestion that I could move the bed over to where it was partially under the window. I have been diligently trying to keep it perfectly centered between the small window and the wall, even though that means I don't get a table. Because I thought that was what one should do. I would love to have a bedside table on my side. What you don't see is a foot stool providing storage for my chapstick, water, reading material, and extra pair of socks in case my feet get cold. And shutters??!! For the love of cabbage, people, I absolutely adore shutters, but didn't think they would work in that room. Shutters!! I also found a rug in Pottery barn that combines a version of the warm reds and yellows with the cooler blues and greens. I'm liking these colors and thinking of them with lots of neutrals. I'm warming up to the idea of the cottage look with lots of whites/neutrals, but still not sure about white slipcovers and all the white. It seems like it could look like a bunch of ghosts live here and left their outfits laying around the house. Maybe I need to look at more pictures. Also, on the all white with one color thing...is it one color for the whole house or does each room get a different color? And how would you avoid people from referring to different rooms as the "Red" room or the "Yellow" room or the "Blue" room? Two other questions... Given all the doors, which I am beginning to accept must be painted or replaced (Painting furniture made from hardwoods makes me sad, but I now see that I can't leave them as they are) would some type of wainscoting be too much action for this room? This is my grandmother's iron bed that is in an upstairs guest room. Would it be a candidate for our room, or do I need wood? Or possibly something upholstered? The iron bed does accept a standard mattress, you just have to beat and shoehorn it in there. The footboard is the same, but, of course shorter. It's brass-colored with the paint flaking off and will need to be repainted. Love how you thought of alternating them..that was so lucky! I got lucky and bought a lot of white sheers for a nickel each,and used 12 in the living room. Then used some new in the package flat sheets I also bought at a yard sale for making slipcovers and changed my mind and made window scarves :) Use the doorknobs on a piece of wood like a coat rack, or google some ideas, I know I've seen a lot of great ideas with them. DH found the oil painting for 3.00 at a yard sale:) I'm getting dark blue slipcovers. Oh,and love the orbs in your photo,too!! Here is a link that might be useful:

I helps to layout the hanging clothes in clothes closets and items to be stored in linen closets. I plan hanging clothes to be at least 24" wide from shoulder to shoulder. In the illustration below the green shirt will be difficult to find and difficult to retrieve. Do not turn corners with hanging clothes. The closet door will hit the hanging clothes when fully open. In the linen closet the green box will be hard to find and difficult to remove without disturbing the other items on that shelf. Reach-in linen closets should have a door or doors almost as wide as the width of the closet.See if the range vent can be exhausted out the wall so it doesn't have to take up space. In some lake houses I have designed, I provided a 24" wide shelf and rod on the wall. Guests can hang their clothes on the rod (if they brought any that needs hanging), folded clothes on the shelf, and their luggage sets on a chair below. Barn doors do not provide an adequate visual or sound barrier to be used for a bedroom door, and they take up wall space where art can hang.
