No one should use tobacco for any reason today. Nicotene sulfate is one of the broadest spectrum poisons there is and has no place in the garden. A sharp water stream can help control these spittle bugs, or a spray of insecticidal soap will work. Always start with the least toxic means of control once you have determined that control is even necesary. Not every bug needs to be wiped out and that is what nicotene sulfate will do.

I'm so sad to hear that so many of you have been driven near the edge of insanity by so many of these inane commercial messages. We have a rather wry take on the advertising system by one of the major ones on CBC Radio One, called "The Age of Persuasion" that I find rather interesting: it's been on weekly for several years. I'm not sure what the web address will be, something at www.cbc.ca/ageofpersuasion, or /persuasion, possibly. Maybe catch it on Sirius 137. Have any of you sent messages to the advertiser telling of your reaction to the message? I suspect that if the half dozen or so of you who disparaged several of the major offenders wrote the company, telling them of your displeasure ... that is shared by others, according to their claim on a high quality internet discussion group ... ... they might pay some attention. Squawking on a thread like this, for fun, is one thing ... doing something constructive about it seems to me to be of greater value. This thread makes me rather less concerned that, out here where the three or so stations on TV are snowy, means that I watch little TV ... and am too cheap to spring for satellite. I lived for several years without cable, in the city, after a house-sharer left ....... to live with a pleasant widow that he'd met at a singles' club. Later asked whether he could return: she liked the dog better tham him. Found a less expensive place elsewhere. I hope that you all have a great week: hope that you don't lose the remote (or a "loved one" take it with them when they leave home, following a disagreement). ole joyful P.S. Less than enthused about the hundreds that I've been getting by email offering Peace of mind for Persons suffering from Pitiful Penis. Or the Russian gals seeking a wonderful relationship. Or the guys wanting to slip a box of Bucks ... Gold ... or Damonds ... out of Africa (many claiming to be workers in a bank in Oagadougou, Burkina Faso) (or other places). o j

I can't stand that target one either, mute the tv every time it comes on.I mean really,do you know anyone who acts like that?? I sure don't!! I hate the one for that Dragon thing that you talk to and it types what you talk.Did you all realize that one is 4 minutes long?? Another on my hate list is Trojan, that makes your hair stand out, when you have sex~~~~~~~~~~~~Really, who cares?? Kathi

My main issue with it is that it is a CHRISTMAS commercial not a general run of the mill day to day commercial or tv show. It is on to represent the CHRISTMAS season using a classic song that everyone relates to Christmas. I think there could have been something much more appropriate to represent what Christmas is really all about! Unfortunately so many apparently don't even know or care what Christmas is. Not the picture I would want in my mind or my children's mind when singing or hearing Christmas songs like the classic Jingle Bells. Don't watch Victoria Secret either, have no interest. I am definitely NOT a prude in any way, this one is all about the respect of the holiday. Just my feelings about things Christmas related, it is just one short time of the year. They could take an example from the fabulous ads from years of the Budweiser Clydesdale Christmas ads, now those are ads worth seeing and remembering. And this from a Beer company! Classy and classic. Budweiser Clydesdale Christmas Commercials
