You have to thank your lucky stars...or something or someone for that! I am glad you or the deer weren't hurt. We hit a deer in Utah about two and a half years ago. There was $6500 in damage done to the truck. It was scary.

I'm glad no one was hurt and there was no damage to your truck. There are a lot of white tailed deer around here and especially in the fall when they are running you will see dead deer along the roads at times. They do walk through my garden and leave their tracks but don't bother anything. Sometimes being out in my yard I will spot one or more.

We call the road from our house into town...Kamikaze Road...(highway 275), you will find dead deer at least once a week. Also skunks and coons.

I once drove to my daughters on that road, she lives 15 mins south of us. I counted 7 deer laying on the side of the road. They are thick around here...

Glad you didn't damage your truck or get hurt.

My son hit one out here and broke the windshield right in front of the drivers side.

It is that way around here too Patti - never thought of calling it Kamikaze Road - but that would fit!

I hear cars honking, then screeeeechh....thud....

DS can hunt this fall - he is very excited. I will let him hunt for whatever he wants, but DH and I always bag does on our land ownders tags to help keep down the population. We donate the deer to the state. The local locker processes the meat and it goes to the prisons and food banks.

After a couple sparse years we have a deer explosion this spring.

We live in a suburb 30 miles north of Chicago. All the counties around the city have huge forest preserves, and deer 'commute' between them through neighborhoods and golf courses. There's just one vacant lot in our immediate neighborhood. It's on a cul-de-sac next to a golf course. DH walks the dog there and often sees six or seven deer. He calls it their 'clubhouse'.

The main E-W street through our town is called "Deerpath", and I've seen deer on it in the middle of the day! We have our own 'deer path' beside our house; we're next to a creek. They almost never come into our yard even though we have only a four-foot fence around most of it. That will surely change if the numbers keep increasing.

Have to remember, they were here before us and will be here long after. We do have a healthy number of coyotes -- maybe I should say: 'a number of healthy coyotes' (well fed).
