What did you have to look up?

I am almost positive that ALL of us have books, magazines, and a bunch of saved web links. So what's the last thing you looked up - either in a book or on the internet - in order to figure out how to do it?

I just went through every one of my books trying to find a wedding quilt pattern. I just this minute put the stack down. So many lovely ideas. Hard to narrow it down.

I posted this earlier - I have been doing nothing but working on machine bindings for about a week now - I have gotten 4 quilts bound. My goal was to accomplish a complete machine binding method using a French Bias Binding that I would be proud to show to other quilters. That forced me to pull out a few books and look at more then a few Tutorials on You Tube. I took bits and pieces from 5 sources, and I am very happy with my results.
I'm not sure it is any faster :).

I'm going to get a photo today...but I think I know what you are describing and it well may be my garlic :) But I also have day lillies that are sprouting up (and tulips) how's that for confusion.....and the day lillies in the containers, look JUST like what I figured was day lillies in the flower beds... Are you talking about how the tulip fan's out after it's above ground? This is what I'm seeing a lot of...and it's probably my garlic....

Last time I purchased a mower looked at several brands, choose Sears because; more features for the dollar, had owned sears prior - it was still going after 29 yrs (1973 to 2002) with very few problems, but wanted to bag and could not get a baggers for the old sears ST10. This mower is used on my personal lawn and in addition I have a JD GT275 for Moms property which is 12 miles away. I also have a (1979) JD2040 w/ a FEL which I use for handling mulch and other landscaping materials in a part time business. Recently retired for full time employement and am going pretty much full time landscaping by default. Would like to replace the GT275 with a Zturn - probably a Scag Tiger Cub, because the amount of grass at Moms property and maybe do a little commerical cutting with it. I previously had purchased a Woods RM990 finishing mower for the 2040, but couldn't compete with the Zturns, so I sold the woods this spring. I've had good service from all equipment I've purchased - from sears to deeres, but like the original purchase price, Deere service is dear, but still very good. I only use purchase service when I have trouble finding time to do it myself, seems like a lot lately. Been trying to buy a JD gator TX model, best price so far is $6,150; way to much in my opinion. I should not be to tough on the TX, had it on demo for 8 days with 23 hrs my use on the clock. Had a landscaping contract where it would be highly visible - so dealer said why not. Turned it in yesterday "not sold" :-( .

I just posted this on someone else's thread but I wanted to say THANK YOU for helping me find my voice! And making progress! The granite guy came today and fixed the crack. You can't tell at all standing over it. I can see it when the sunlight is reflecting off of it, but also bc I was specifically looking for it. Anyone else would just see it as graining. Granite guy said it happened probably when the cabinet guy was hacking at the trim he had to remove bc it wasn't right. This I can live with. The cabinet guy showed up yesterday. The magnet he brought to fix door wasn't the right one. I started to show him which cabs had nails still sticking out and he said he'd check all of them. Then he said ok I'm done. I opened a cab and said the nails aren't finished, I thought you were going to finish them. He says,"Oh I didnt realize that you wanted me to do that." Really?Really? I guess he thought the splintered wood was fine? So then he says ok I'm done. I'm going to run to HD and get the magnet and be right back. Then I went to check his work. He missed cutting nails in 2 cab and didn't finish 3 others. Well...An 1 1/2 later he calls and says he got the battery but needed to go home and he'd come back tomorrow. I told him he missed more nails etc. And... he didn't come. But I do consider it a small victory he came at all. And lastly, I called the glass guy and said it was really driving me crazy everytime I look at it. He said he was going to call daltile to see if there was anything he could do, but if not, they would have to do it over bc it was their mistake. Yea! So I'll let everyone know how things turn out. I really don't expect to hear from cab guy. But, it's not the last he'll hear from me!

Just because you have to cut out sugar doesn't mean that you have to suffer. Try sugar free cookies, cake recipes, candy and such. I live in a small town and our grocery store carries these so I am sure your does. Also we use Splenda, we have found that to be the best substitute out there. Instead of drinking regular or diet pop try Diet Rite. That is also made with Splenda. It is just as easy to use Splenda in a recipe that calls for sugar just a bit more expensive. I have a cheesecake in the oven now and am looking forward to supper. We have to watch our sugars and are living low carb as well. Good luck. Christie

Variations of New York Beauty patterns. I have a pile of bright batiks just calling out to me to do something great with them and I am considering doing paper piecing. Not sure yet. So, I searched lots of pictures on the web. I can make my own patterns once I decide what I want it to look like.

I just re-visited the quilt tutorials from the Missouri Quilt Co. They have some great ones. I'm also trying to look up pictures to see if there is any way navy blue, hunter green and hot pink could work together.

Hmmm...I googled sampler quilt images to get ideas for different layouts that include different size blocks. Then I googled graph paper to print so I can pencil in some designs.

I think the last thing I looked for on the web was how to make 4 flying geese from a big square & 4 little ones. Worked like a charm!

Having a pattern in my mind that I saw in a book or magazine as well as specific ideas I have seen in books. Drives me nuts when I have to go through so many of my books/magazines to find the directions or ideas that were used that I want to do. I will bet that I am going through a book at least once a week. Bet many others do this as well!

Confession is good for the soul? After making dozens of quilts over the last 25 years.....I still have to get out the book that has the visual guide to binding a quilt. I now have it marked with a piece of paper so I can quickly turn to it. I never quite remember how to start and end the binding. Or.....at least I *think* that I don't remember what to do.

Recently I printed off a bunch of baby quilts from web sites to give me inspiration and spur me on to make some baby quilts for my Etsy shop.

You tube for free motion quilting. My new machine is great for FMQ and I wanted some hints. Also watched a man named Holice T. on Quilters TV. He was all about bindings and other great tips. which I have put to use.

Last thing was a Fun and Done tute. Robbi posted a quilt in the February Show and Tell using the method. I had tried quilt as you go and had some problems so I asked Robbi for advice/info, which she generously provided. I googled Fun and Done and found the tute.

OMG there are so many I don't know where to start! I used the fun and done method and mine looks terrible so I'm taking it apart and trying it again. I have searched QAYG on the Net to find different methods. I want to make a Log Cabin QAYG without it being stiff.
I searched for CW patterns to that's how I found out I did it wrong. I am beginning to doubt how well it will wash with the hand sewing so I have found a tute for machine stitching.
I also looked up DWR in books and the Net when Linda posted about hers.
I use my books, Internet, and library a lot.
