They look similar to tulips coming up. My brother has a whole bed full of them, a similar number to yours. You can't miss them when they come up. They looks nothing like dandelions.

I'm going to get a photo today...but I think I know what you are describing and it well may be my garlic :) But I also have day lillies that are sprouting up (and tulips) how's that for confusion.....and the day lillies in the containers, look JUST like what I figured was day lillies in the flower beds...

Are you talking about how the tulip fan's out after it's above ground? This is what I'm seeing a lot of...and it's probably my garlic....

Garlic looks a lot like green onion coming up - except the scapes are flatish and a bit grayish, while onions are green and round.

I usually plant the little rascals all around the front edges (easterly preferably) of the growing boxes, so can't miss them.

If in doubt, pinch off a tip and smell. You can't miss the smell of garlic.

Rhinja, Do you eat the chickweed? growing in the pot with the daylillies? I just learned it a couple of years ago. You can actually buy seed for it but I don't know why anyone would. The daylillies are also really good steamed when they first emerge. These are a little too far along.

LIke Marshall said, just rub or pinch the leaf and you can easily tell which are garlic. They look like the darker green leaf ones around the iris in your second picture.

I discovered which ones where the garlic...and the ones that look like daylillies, ARE daylillies....duh...I guess I forgot where they were all planted.

I too am excited to see what comes up from the ground :) GARLIC I hope...some big enough that I can eat!!!
