My3Dogs, that picture of Rooney and Riley is just so sweet. I LOVE Brittanys and that picture shows how wonderfully sweet and snuggly they are. I am sorry to hear about your friend's pup. :( I have been thinking about that, on our search of a dog . . .how short their lives are, esp. Goldens. Even in the best circumstances, dogs' lives are just too short! Maire Cate-- wow! 3 out of 5? That makes me feel better, I guess! They are such sweet and funny dogs in so many ways, but I guess it's hard to find ones that are trustworthy (esp around children). Someone told me they are the mascot of a store in the UK where they'd have actual Wheatens in the store all the time. I wonder if aggression is just becoming more and more of a problem in general among all breeds. Would you say it's a good idea to go visit the breeder and the parents before we make a final decision? I hadn't thought to do that, trusting what the breeder says about them, but that is a good idea. Athomeinva, I'm sorry you went through it, too! I am trying to learn all I can about dog body language so that I CAN feel comfortable again, but I know it will be a challenge. We stayed with family last week and they had a dog-- I was watching the dog with my kids constantly. The difference was that this dog would just walk away if he'd had enough vs. nipped. I am so glad to hear your Golden worked out! Maddielee, I can put up with the shedding! I can put up with the typical puppy nipping and biting too-- the kids have been warned about the land shark phase . . .and they will be highly monitored. If our Wheaten had nipped out of play, we would never have rehomed her. In other words, it wasn't the nip itself but the intent behind it, along with the air snaps/warning signs she gave. She just wasn't comfortable around young children. Sadly, too, once a dog has exhibited this kind of behavior, it's a huge liability, too, esp. since I had documentation of professionals telling me she had to go. Roseseek, how lovely! red: Believe it or not after over a year with the same layout I just changed it after taking down the Christmas decorations. I'm hoping to get some PS help in a few days with the paint/rug selections. DD would prefer the furniture all white, perhaps darker aqua walls; everyone here thinks we should keep it the seafoam color (which has more green in it than the aqua we were invisioning when we started this room). I also prefer the seafoam as it has that element of funkiness I think she'll appreciate heading into her tweens and teens whereas white she may outgrow. Her older sister would love it if I gave her the green light to paint her furniture, but no-deal there as it's nice, solid natural maple stuff. Having some visuals I think will help her decide. Luckily, she's agreed to the pale aqua walls as I've told her we'll have some punches of color--just not all over the whole walls. cooperbailey: yes, lots of fun and so is my DD. She asks me everyday when I pick her up from school what progress I've made on her room. dilly_dally: I agree about mixing painted and unpainted furniture and in fact could see either of these pieces at home in my LR quite easily, but not for this space--which is quite small and gets busy looking very easily with all her stuff. The mahogany will just have to be painted. I know it'll look nice when it's done as does the highboy--though I don't think I could've been the one to paint that piece. bungalow_house: You know how CL is, you have to sift through a lot of lemons sometimes... Not only that, but it was only 4 miles from my house and guy took off work for lunch to meet me... It was total luck as it was part of a set that belonged to his great aunt and for some reason he is keeping part of the pieces and selling the rest. I'd think he'd want to keep it as a set as I think it has more value that way. justgotabeme: I think it's similar in style, but seems to be newer and (we hope) of better quality. I actually think the old wrought iron ones are probably better quality than the new stuff. Since orig. price is $400, we're hoping it's decent quality. I'll need to check the weight tho. DH is weird that way in that if something is very cheap, he thinks it's because it's poor quality. We'll see tho as seller has not called me back yet on the bolt. If they cannot find a replacement then DH says we won't buy. We shouldn't have to pay that money and then scrounge around for spare parts.... sheesharee: I think so to!

Anele, the room is pretty much a blank canvas. We recently put our four poster back up after selling the furniture I did not like. Here are pics of the bed from our old house. I don't have a complete picture of the bed. Ignore the bedding as we no longer use it. Also here is the end table that I purchased off CL for my guest room but we have now moved it into the master. There is no color or anything on the walls and I'm still working on the direction I want to go in. I do know that I would like to have seating in the room and want to put something at the foot of the bed if that helps. OH yeah, I'm still looking for a dresser and have decided that I'm going to use a skirted table or mirrored chest for my side of the bed. I guess I'm concerned about the cream getting dirty but that is my only objection.

Isn't it pretty wood? I do get to peek at CL fairly often as I work from home. Long hours, and lots of conference calls, so when I get a quick break, I'll see what's new on CL. I put this chair on my picnic table/project bench yesterday after work and stripped the seat off carefully, along with hundreds of nails, tacks, you name it. I left the black cloth covering the bottom, the burlap webbing, and the springs tied to it. What I removed, I put in a plastic bag to preserve so I can go back to it for reference when I re-do the seat. I couldn't resist going over a few more parts with a bit of RAF and I see some beautiful grain to the wood. Some is quarter sawn, and some may be tiger oak. I need to show it to a neighbor of my mother's who is a cabinet maker to get the scoop. To see the wood revealed by the RAF is a wonderful sight. I will so enjoy fixing this up!
