Perspective is hard, but the shades look too tall for the e-bay fixture.

Is there a plug by the chair, and is the fixture a plug in or is it hardwired?

Honestly, I would pass on the fixture. You can find things locally that will work with the lampshades, which I like very much.

That will work just great and I think it will look very pretty, Shees. BTW, I read the other day that we can paint those little shades with fabric paint from Michaels. So if you ever change your mind, you can change those. Of course, you can always glue fabric and trim on them with your trusty hot glue gun too.

Question, is there a good place to buy those little shades for a good price? I need 6 clip-on ones.

Les - Hmm too tall. I didn't really give that a thought. Me and my shade/lamp issues! It would be so nice to find one with both entact! Ha. The price is a good deal for the ebay sconce so I was really hoping it would work. Any idea how tall of a fixture it should be? What do you think of the location?

Oceanna - Thanks! I don't know the best place to find cheaper shades. I've honestly never really looked. Did you check ebay at all? I'm sure someone on here will know. I got those to for $.50 together. :)

There is a plug below the chair but it's hardwired. The switch on the wall there controls the chandy in the foyer. There's also a switch right beside the front door that controls the chandelier.

shee, it's difficult to get a perspective on this, but I love both the sconce and the shades and think in would look great in the spot by the chair.

I'm confused. Are these 2 photo's of the same sconce? The first one looks to be in excellent condition and the second one does not.

Here is my hall sconce, that's kind of in the style of the one you're looking at. I don't know if it's size and size of shades will give you any perspective.

Bru - The photo of the sconce (front and inside)are the same. After looking at the pics again I think maybe the shades will be too big. While only 4" tall the candlesticks look pretty stubby. Maybe I'll email her and ask the height of the candlestick. I like your sconces and it looks like you have a good bit of the candle part showing. There is one lighting store left in the area I have to check since I still need a shade for the lamp in the LR. Money is somewhat tight right now at least in the "shop for accessories" dept. so I'm trying to be all thrifty.

Nanabb - I bought mine at an auction recently. Awhile ago when I posted on here questioning where to hang Mary Lu posted this.. I knew nothing about it prior to that.

"I have the same picture, and I would caution you about removing the picture and backing. The glass is a convex glass, sometime called bubble glass, and I believe the picture might be adhered to the back of the glass. The picture was originally a hostess gift for Home Interior parties back in the '70s. It is now considered a collector item. That size was never offered for sale, only as a hostess gift. I believe a smaller size was offered for sale for a short period of time. The lady who did my parties asked to buy mine back for herself and offered me $300 and that was in the late '70s.
I would recommend a gentle cleaning with soap and water of the frame.

Shee, off hand I do not. However, I'd be glad to have DH measure tomorrow when he's at the house and let you know. You know what, I bought that fixture from Bellacor. Let me go see if I can find it online and get the specs for you.

I also just ordered some chandi shades from Bellacor for $6 each. Those are for my BR chandi. I haven't received them yet so not sure how they are going to look. I hate ordering that sort of thing on line, but the price was right.

shee, DH just phoned. He is working at the house this afternoon so I had him measure the fixture. The candle is 4" and the shade is 5". 3" of the candle is showing beneath the shade. I'm still looking on the Bellacor site, but I think my fixture might have been discontinued. I know I bought it some time ago. If I find out any more information I'll let you know.

Thanks Brutuses. Is the shade 5" long or is that the bottom width out of curiosity?

I was thinking of other ways I could use them. I have two brass candlestick holders at home. What if I put either a white or black taper candle and just sat the shade on top? I could maybe use it in the LR on one of the tables? I obviously wouldn't light the candle. I have two taper candles on my buffet in the DR and I put the shades on last night just to see if they would sit right and it worked alright. I may have to experiment tonight. The problem I'm thinking with sconces (besides trying to find the right ones!) is messing with the electric. I was searching for non electric holders but haven't found too much. The ones I've seen looks like the shade would be too wide and bump the back of the sconce.

Well out of curiosity I emailed the seller asking the height of the candles. She says.
"From the flurette saucer to the top of the candlestick (w/o light bulb) is 4 1/4". The actually candlestick part (white area) is approx 3".

It ends in 2 hours. Yay or nay?

They are 5" tall. I like the fixture so I say yes, but you said you're not sure about the electricity factor. I think the whole point of having a nice sconce is to be able to use it, either with electric or candles. I much prefer electric because candles are too bothersome and dangerous. LOL The one you are looking at could be wired as a plug in type with an on/off switch. Did you measure out the diameter to see if it is actually large enough for that space? It appears kind of small.

Arg this is crazy. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the size of all this.

Bru - The white part of my candle is 3" and my shade is 4" tall.
Your candlestick is 4" and the shade is 5" tall. So we each have one inche difference. Your white candlestick shows 3" with shade on. Mine would show.... only 2"? Is the location of the clip on things inside mini shades pretty standard?

I thought the diameter seemed ok. I estimated the width though based off what she said about the middle piece.

Your idea of using them on candles in candlesticks is a good one. I am currently making some lamps out of old brass candlesticks, and bought some shades on eBay for them. I will electrify mine, but if you can keep them straight on the top of some candles, just for a nice decor touch, why not? You'll save yourself some money, too. Check the link below for a similar idea using real candles...

Your shades are beautiful. I've gotten some good buys, but never any for 50 cents!

I think it's beautiful just as is. Those shades are REALLY nice. Personally since it's spring, I'm putting lighter colors in a few accessories. Black would be beautiful, but I'd probably do it for fall and winter. The shades are neutral enough so you you could use perhaps burgundy candles for the holidays, or whatever color goes with your decor.

So you spent 50 cents and used what you had on hand and you've got a great look!

My3Dogs, do you repair your own lamps or put sockets in those yourself or have a lamp shop do it?

If I buy an old one that needs repair or re-wiring, I do it myself. I also make them from things, like the candlesticks above.

In a past life long ago, I managed a hardware store and learned a lot of things that come in very handy now.
I buy the lamp parts locally and online and can whip up a lamp in minutes. It's really very easy. Anyone reading this can look up instructions online and make one. It's a great way to get a custom look!

Shee, that looks really cute. As far as the shades fitting that fixture, I think they were a little too wide and would be too close to each other, but again, it's difficult to decide these things from a photo.
